eBay speed daddy cat back installed

Hey guys I figured I'd let you all know I spent some money on on one of those eBay cat back exhaust. I got the speed daddy cat back with burnt tips. 289$ shipped.
Install was quick the only fitment issues I had was the stock exhaust shroud's had to be trimmed a little bit on the inside bottom . I'm talking about the plastic ones that racing beat tells you to remove to remover the stock set up.
The welds look good, really is 304 stainless. I'm a welder pipe fitter by trade.
Tone is lower but louder. when ur cruising unless ur at 7k+ rpms you don't really hear it over the sound of snow tires.

All and all I'm happy and beat.
If u search warwickben on YouTube you'll find a video I did quick when I got home 30mins ago.

I'll update in a week. I mite weld two more hangers on since this only has 2 on the muffler . Well see. The garfish thing is the cat bolts don't ask what happen. I don't under stand that joint at all.

Nope. I only drover around for a few then came home after install. I'm sick and stuff lol.
Any ways I just drove down the main street in my town, from my buddies and did a small loop on the high way. I just messed with gears and speeds to see if it was too loud. Or if I was going to go insane.
All in all it sounds good , deeper sound. Little louder at wot. I'll make some more videos. Can't link YouTube videos from iPhone sorry. But just search Warwickben

Start saving your money so when it craps out in a year you'll have money to replace it with an exhaust from a reputable manufacture. You get what you pay for!

someone here has been using the OBX exhausts for a while and on multiple RX-8s..forget who. OBX are cheap but apparently they seem to last and sound good.

Well I know what your saying and under stand what your saying. My stock muffler starting to go,my bro face me 300$ for xmas towards replaceing my muffler.Worse Case for me at least when the mufflers go I can replace them at my friends shop. I didn't expect gains or any thing figured it mite help a little since it has a better flow path then the stock set up and the main pipe back, was starting to rust thru on my stock muffler.

I cant see paying for the racing beat or other higher end setups for what maybe a few hp. I'm not racing my 8 or trying to make crazy power any way. I looked at the cost of the racing beat setup, stock replacement set up(good luck finding a new one.) the way I see it for me I'll still make out even if the mufflers go my friend owns a shop and gets geat deals and I do side work so he said when they go he'll take care of me.

I don't mean this as a attack towards any one. I come from the first gen crowd , we all make due with What we can . I'm 25 I'm two weeks. I don't have tons of cash I bought my 05 rx8 in 08 weeks befor the stock market crashed and I got a pay cut I could of returned me car and got the money I put down back but I love this car it's been my dream to own one since they came out. I live pay check to pay check during the winter since it seems we allways slow down. I pay all my bills and pay some of my folks. I do all my work in my drive way. this week I did 4 brake jobs for friends and family in the dArk cold as hell. I make due.

My point being it seems with the 3rd gen and rx8 you got 3 groups of people young kids who's parents pay for every thing and don't know what Wrench is. You got the older guys that have plenty of cash and come off smug. Then u got the ones who don't know any thing about there car or like me do but can dump tons of cash in to it. When I go to car meets I stay away from 3rd gen guys and rx8 guys for these reasons. I got crap cause I said I was going to keep it stock till it's fully paid off and didn't have rims. One kid asked me what you mean paid off.

Any ways sorry I went off I've been really down latly and just felt like I'm in high school with a rich kid making fun of me cause Im not wear cool 300$ pants. But I know what I got. I know the risk but u know what I can replace the mufflers or wait till I have the cash to get a rb muffler like I wanted . If I did that first I would of had a huge whole in my exhaust and get tickets every day and be I. The hole worse. Happen with my rx7 stock rOtted out got tickets every week from the same cop going to work .

Honestly, it will be fine, it's some welded up metal. The OBX one which is also very cheap is still on my list.

Op I wasn't bashing you. I am alot older than you (37) and am financially stable. I always saved to buy the best even as a youngster. You get what you pay for was always instilled in me by my pop. Yes I have bough cheaper versions of various products over my years in an attempt to save a buck only to have them break. Sometimes I would buy cheaper versions of products 2 or 3 times before I would learn my lesson and shell out the money for a quality product. Now that I am older I try just to buy the high quality product the first go around. I learned from my past purchasing experiences. I wish you luck with your exhaust. All I was saying is don't get your hopes up and be prepared to replace your mufflers.

I can't comment on the quality of build, but I have to say, I like the sound of this exhaust better than some of the other brands I have heard. I know racing roots offers a single exit exhaust for $400, but ( im my opinion, of course) it sounds terrible. I know there no noticable gains from a new exhaust but I am definetly picking one up in the spring just to liven up the sound. I've decided on the HKS hi power mainly because its one of the lighter setups, and Im trying to shed some weight off the car, but at at $289 for this exhaust, if it holds up, is a really good deal.

Good on you man. I have the HKS Hi-power exhaust and I love it but I have been meaning to snag this up just to post a review. the detailed pics I have seen are impressive. The guy (supergoat) who ditched his Borla and bought the OBX was flamed as well but after a year or so of updates, he was still happy with it and it was holding up well.

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...&highlight=obx

The whole "get what you pay for" attitude is crap for the most part as far as exhausts go IMO. I have installed quite a few exhaust on RX-8's and the "cheap" Turbo XS cat back exhaust ($500.00 for mid pipe and cat-back) I installed was every bit as nice (great welds) and fit just as well, if not better than the few Racing beat, Mazdaspeed, and Borla exhausts I have installed. In fact, my HKS had fitment issues with the SR motorsports (expensive) midpipe I used to have so paying more does not always get you more. Not to mention our local member with the Mazdaspeed catback had to have leaking welds fixed (in Texas with no rust mind you) and this is actually known to happen with that exhaust.

The only downside I can see in these lower cost exhaust setups are muffler packing. But since you are welder replacing the mufflers some day is not an issue, for $100.00 you could egt two nice Borla, Magnaflow, etc. mufflers.

Congrats on your new exhaust, keep us updated.

Thanks I'll keep the up dates coming. If I can find a place that sells the section that bolts to the cat I mite just mite build my own down the road since I am a pipe bender and welder . And I can just use the stock setup for a jig.

To be honest, I think the "you get what you pay for" statement gets thrown around here a lot. Ultimately, none of these mods are for performance. If there is a gain, it's within 5 hp. That's hard to measure on a dyno. You are all pretty much modding for sound.

Stock exhausts aren't meant to last that long. They don't use super stainless steel, no good welds. Just plain metal that keeps the exhaust contained. Paying $300 twice over for two exhausts that last you ten years or more seems like a better deal than paying $1,000 or more for a stock replacement.

Yeah, I agree although for critical engine parts, brake parts, or suspension parts I would do a lot of homework before purchasing. I have seen some junk in my many years of modding but to call it jumk because it's cheap in price without seeing it first hand is not my style. But hey, it's your money, if you want to spend $1,500.00 on a header that won't get you any more HP thank the RB $500.00 header then knock yourself out.

sounds good, as as far as the diameter goes I do not see why you would even need to get a 3 inch if you plan on staying n/a, the amount of flow and pull is not so great as to require a 3 inch

The inside dim is roughly the same as stock. Like I said befor I mainly got this because my stock one was going. didnt have the cash for the racing beat setup or stock.Last march I went in to some water lol. 1 inch high and when I opened my door water would of came in. I came around a turn like 4 in the mooring in the rain going to work and the road was flooded. I shut the car off befor I even hit my brakes lol.

Yeah I'll take some better pics etc.Mind you it's winter in mass....so my car is dirty And a huge snow storm coming tonight. So I don't know when I can get a friend to film me for a drive by. Ill record my drive home today. Twisty back roads and some high way. I'll do half of each with the drivers window open and closed. And I'll start it off with some pics. I'd post it here but I'm on a iPhone. I put a video up earlier of the car idleing in the day time no revving since I filmed it. The polish turned to a nice gold lol. Check my you tube page. If some one can link these videos thanks. Note there's a video of my car driving home that's old ... I'll includ cat back in title.

Side note the sound in a tunnel sounds good. It makes a weird burp/back fire sound when I do certin things. My sa did the same with a cat back?

My b day is the 21st I hopey friends chipped in for a intake jk .

I wount go cheap for safety type stuff or motor parts .

I don't get 1k$ jdm header -1 to -5 hp vs racing beat header for 500$.
Any one see that post and dyno.
