Have anyone used the DynomaxVT on a RE? According yo their customer service, a 4.0L+ would be the recommended for a RE. Still, need some input from others ;-)

The fiberglass will burn out quickly. Rotary exhaust pulses and heat tend to crack lightly- built exhaust components. Still, would be an interesting experiment. Here's a dead muffler pic from Rotary Aviation. (The muffler was not made by them):

^ He speculates as to why but doesn't have a definitive answer. Normal, pistion-engined airplanes get away with that sort of mounting scheme (external to the cowl) without appanent difficulty. EU noise regulations result in many Pipers, Cessnas, etc being retrofitted with external mufflers like that.

Regardless, of the specific example, cracking is a problem. See the BHR experience with the Moroso Spiral-Flow as another example of a piston-ok muffler that doesn't work on a rotary. Charles didn't have any pics of the destruction that I remember though.
