cz?

I'm pretty dumb when it comes to these things so sorry for asking stupid questions...I'm no car mechanic by any means.

I just got an '04 GT rx8 about two weeks ago and just wondering about increasing performance on it a little, it's a great car but I just wish it was a little faster off the line (not that I've pushed it that hard yet, but I know it's not going to be that fast off the line). I've been reading alot about canzoomer...what exactly is it, how bad is it for the car and is it something I can easily do or will I have to take it to the shop to have them install it? And...do I need to get an I/E for it to be even worth getting? I don't want to spend a **** load of money (I know I know...I want free performance!!), so I'm just wondering what "easy" things I can do to give it a lil more power.

canzoomer is a piggyback ecu which allows you to tune your car... i dont think it's worth having a cz unit if you dont have an intake/exhaust/midpipe etc. but yah your choice....

go check out www.canzoomer.com
i think he's a vendor here too so you can PM as well

Yea the one thing I knew about it is that it's an ecu piggyback...but do I need to know anything about programming the thing? I keep reading about people tuning it....I know if I try to tune it and turn the engine on the car will probably explode.

go to the Canzoomer forum in the vendor's section. There reside all the answers to your questions. CZ is easy to tune. You can expect at least 15 HP from a half-assed tune job.

if you're gonna buy it, wait around for the sales section on this forum. they go for approximately $300-350-400maybe (at most) and the tuning software and everything from $150-$200... so, wait and keep an eye open on the classsifieds section.

if you dont' tune, it's basically pointless, unless it has a 2.0 map. but even so, you should learn to tune it. there's a site by jason hamilton that teaches you how to tune the 8 step by step. It should be a one day thing...

i've had it twice now - but no time to tune, so i got rid of it. when i got the cz 1.1 with 2.0 map, i felt a kick - without even tuning it... but when i had the cz 1.1... uncorrected?? i dont' know if the unit is what caused it, but i've lost quite a bit of performance and had to get my stock cat replaced...

but thats what warranty was for!!

so, keep searching and good luck.

Racing Beat for the REVi intake & REV8 cat back exhaust. If you do get the cz unit, install the I/E first. Otherwise you will have to re-tune the unit after you install this stuff as it will run differently when you add these on.

maybe that's why my first cz didn't run right... i had I/E.

if you have some cash, get the HKS kit. it looks really nice, sounds GREAT (it's not really loud, even at WOT), but it sounds like it's spooling once the intake takes over...

for exhaust, i have the borla, and it works great/sounds great, looks great..

for the HKS, i got mine for $350 brand new, so if you want info, i can probably backtrack and tell you where i got it... i had to haggle though, but nothing difficult!

I have the Canzoomer with mid-pipe etc... The key is to have it TUNED properly ( I actually had Maurice do mine). I am very happy with the results I am getting. Much more power after 6000 rpm. Mine was one of the cars that ran rich. Now I am getting better power and better gas milage!
