FL Custom RX-8 exhaust (Magnaflow)

so i found this vid of this custom exhaust, i have this exact exhaust brand new in the box sitting in my car. i had originally bought so i can put it on the mx6 but that never happened.

what i really want to know is about the drone; this setup would cost me 90 bucks for the install at my local muffler shop, but before i do i want to hear from other Custom magnaflow owners about the droning.

I also have the magnaflow exhaust system for the rx8 on my car. I like how it sounds and the drone is almost non existent in my case--for I do not have a race midpipe.

If one were to replicate your Magnaflow custom cat back, what parts would they need to provide an exhaust shop and how much would it possibly cost?

Up to this point, I was looking into getting an HKS Hi-Power for weight savings. I really wanted a single exit unit because I'm more for function than form. However, the HKS unit is TOO loud. So I'm looking into going with this route instead.

Well the muffler alone was around $65 or $70 and the shop charged me $100 to remove the old exhaust and weld it on; they also welded a TI tip.

The agency Dual res Mid-pipe was $216 shipped new!! From one of our Forum vendors (Adam)

So in total it was $170 with muffler and shop work, add $216 and you get $386.00. Still less $ than the HKS and about an Approximate 30-35 lbs Lighter than stock.

The Sound this setup makes at WOT equals pure sex!!! Plus with the awesome Backfires that the AP midpipe produces it just creates an amazing sound that I seriously cannot capture on video.

The part# is 12216 and it's a 5x8 Oval 14" length. Just like SPHINX144^^said there is somewhat of a drone but only when there is serious engine strain (going up a hill etc…)other than that I can be going 60-65 at 3-4k and it sounds a tiny bit louder than the stock drone. And if you are listening to music; there is no drone.

Nice setup, great price! However, what if one had more money to spend on a custom exhaust system? If you had a higher budget, what improvements would you have made to your system?

well if i had the money i would have gone with an HKS Hi-power and racing beat Dual midpipe. or Probably just chage the midpipe to a BHR resonated one.
