Custom Midpipes
My friend is getting me a buddy price at a local performance shop to install a new catless midpipe on my 8. But I have a few questions I need answered by you guys before I go in there, sorry if these have been posted about.
1. I know this shop does legit work, but will I get (in theory) acquire less hp gains from this guy as opposed to buying a Supercat or something like an Exoticspeed midpipe.
2. Is these anyway to prevent it from throwing a CEL?
3. What will be the hp gain difference between going, non resonated, resonated and dual resonated?
Thanks guys!

Ok, sounds good. I'll try to get a 3", i'm sure it won't be a problem. So we're talking the same hp gains? Also, thanks. AP is after this hopefully. Just gotta find a good deal on one for an AT.

Or you could buy one from someone who knows what they are doing. Someone who has tuned over 500 RX8's FI (Supercharged, Turbo, Nitrous), NA, MT, AT. 6 months of free tuning.
Hmmmmm,, where could you get that kinda deal?

Anything but a 3' pipe would be waste. This car needs at least 3' all the way back-- Let it breathe
If your looking to resonate then Racing Beat sells resonator cans- If I was you I would go with resonated cans on the pipe. The cat will be just to raspy without them and drown at highway speeds.
There is no way around a CEL without having a AP. You can't fool the PCM with anything other then masking with a AP. P0420 is the code you'll throw- you can delete it with a OBD2 scanner but the code will always pop up in a matter of time. So buy a scanner to periodically check from other code that might pop up.
Personally, I think you'd be better off buying a used mid pipe and save you some time and effort. But if you up for the task I say go for it just make sure you get it right the first time, it would suck to tweak something like this over an over.
Good Luck

According to the Supreme Court of the United states, you pollute the environment every time you exhale. Now THAT is retarded.
