It is the B&B resonated midpipe that I'm welding it to. It is not suppose to loose to much power (I hope).
And I don't want it loud.

 

Resonators

On your typical cat-back exhaust system, you'll see a couple of bulges in the piping that are apparently mini-mufflers out to help the big muffler that hangs out back. These are called Helmholtz Resonators and are very similar to glasspacks. The main difference is that firstly, there is no sound-absorbing fiberglass or steel wool in a Resonator. And secondly, their main method of silencing is the reflective principle, not absorption. An easy way to tell the difference between a glasspack and a true Helmholtz Resonator is to "ping" one with your finger. A glasspack will make a dull thud, and a true Resonator will make a clear "ping!" sound.


Mine is not that loud but you can tell its a sports car , instead of the wimpy stock sound .

Maybe drive someones car with the same set up as yours and see

It is a 3" universal cat, no bung. Has a small heat shield. High quality build indeed. Very light.
When I received the UPS delivery notification, it said package weight 18 lbs I was like WTF, what did they sent me? Fortunately it was what I ordered. Happy again.
I hope it'll work how it looks.

 

It has a lower cell density than the OE one, but it also has a much smaller flow area. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't flow that much better than OE.

Don't expect it to stay shiny very long, the first several times of glowing cherry red will take care of that ...

 

I don't care about the shiny factor. No one will see it anyway.
But your statement for the performance factor sounds logical, despite that people feels noticeable difference with the HF cats for the 8. And this one is suppose to be the best on the market, flowing 2X more than any HF cat available. At least that is what the tests shows.
But we'll see.

Does this cat throw a CEL?

 

It shouldn't. But will know for sure next week.

 

NO CELS AS LONG AS U PLACE THE REAR O2 sensor 3"behind the cat in the exhaust and wire it up correctly , theres no problems .

 

It turned out the B&B midpipe is 2.5". The cat wont fit properly.
I should've done more research.
Now I have it for sale and looking for a 3" pipe.

 

Any decent exhaust shop can extend the pipes and get you a good outcome

 

Don't want to ruin it. It is so nice.

Wheere are people getting the bung? I have a 3" universal magnaflo cat that I would like to get installed. I don't know where people are getting the bungs to install the after cat O2 and isn't the precat O2 in the header?

Here it is. 3" RX8Store pipe with Metal'Cat, resonator and hanger welded on. Have been running it for about a month and the car feels better. It sounded a little loud( but not bad) for what I was used to, even with the resonator so I wrapped it up today with Copper Exhaust Insulating Wrap, sealed with HT Exhaust Coating.
We'll see if it's going to change the sound for better.

 

I like the wrap, may help with exhaust exit and heat to cabin.

I did all the welding myself. That was the point of the custom catpipe.
Now with the wrap it sounds better, I mean it is more deep throaty. I like it now.
