I've searched, and I'm still confused.... Please help! I'm a bit of a newb...

I'm buying a used Canzoomer unit, without cables or software. I really want to be able to tune the thing, (and will be buying the CanScan software/hardware). do I need canzoomer's software to actually modify the unit? The company doesn't seem to answer my emails. If I get the proper cable to link the canzoomer<-->laptop, is there some other software I can use to actually change the maps/values?? Do I haev to use CZ's own software?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

you should be able to use emanage blue software on it, since it's an emanage inside the metal box. I'm sure there's a few people here with the CZ cdrom, ask around and maybe someone will make a copy for you.

the cable isn't a normal usb cable, even though it looks like one, so you'll need the real thing.

I bought one used, and it slowed my car down considerably. I contacted maurice at canzoomer and he was very nice agreed to upgrade it for a small fee - to work with the more recent flashes. So I sent it to him in November of '06. He stopped responding to my emails and never shipped it back. Its been over a year now and he STILL has my canzoomer unit. I tried and tried and tried and tried to get him to send it back to me with or without the upgrade so I could at least sell it on ebay and make up SOME lost money. But alas, I ended up giving up. Long story short, avoid them if possible. Though maybe you will have better luck. I researched the canzoomer unit quite a bit before buying one and plenty of people seem happy with theirs. But it didn't work for me, and the customer service was appalling. Either way, good luck with the upgrades!

I actually did contact him, and he was very nice. They basically dont sell or support many of them at this time, a few years after it first came out, which I can understand. I bought the tuning cable from mohdparts.com ("greddy support tool" and i'm sure i can find the canzoomer software on this site somewhere (although the support tool software should work fine as well.) I got the whole dealie and software and cable for under $250 just cause I wanted to learn things and play around, so thats fine with me.

Just to note, the un-tuned unit did nothing for my car, good or bad. Hopefully with some tweaking that should change.
