Compression Increase
#28
I was imagining a high compression rotary engine with a small turbo charger, Direct injection and possible laser ignition. this means we can retain lean afrs and timing. even utilizing negative split.
mazda was already considering changing the stroke etc, with the 16x perhaps thats still in the works.
the turbo would only be there to help push the rotor around to compress say 14:1. yielding decent power nothing crazy just 200-250flywheel power, but get into the 30-40mpg area.
I know laser ignition and what not may seem fairy taleish but its fun to speculate.
what the engineers need is a really good modeling simulator, so they can make changes on the fly and see how it acts in software.

Driving my unreliable rx8
I have always thought a true direct injection would be awesome. Swap out spark plugs for injectors and kick the compression way up there.

There's nothing complex about someone throwing up a novel's worth calculations that leave some of the most important variables out or predicting things that aren't possible for the same reason.
This is just another old thread that needs to be closed to finally put an end to what started out absurb and pointless which and has & can go only get worse from there.
