Question Cobb AccessPort for Rx-8

hey guys i read that the cobb accessport was actually a very good way to get solid hp and torque gains for the 8. plus i checked it all out and it seemed great how you could check 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times and all.
so i was wondering if anyone has any opinion they would like to share about them, or any reviews from people who actually own it and use it.
is it worth the money?
are the hp/tq gains sufficient?

and all that good stuff. thanks.

You think maybe in the ten years this forum has been open, somebody might have bought one (or 400 of 'em) and posted what and how it did?

Read about it, then if you have a question on something unanswered - post it.

Jesus wept.....

Not being an *******, telling you the info is there for you, I had one, I wrote about it - dozens of people have done the same and updates appear every day!

You want me to type it all again?

What makes you so special?

Not the way the forums work.......

I purchased 1 from Jeff (mazdamaniac.com) when i got my first 8 back in 07 but back then tuning your car took a longtime due to emailing back and forth and stuff. It was more expensive back then and was still worth it on a base map (starter map from MM)

Fast-forward to today im on my 3rd 8 and its 1 of the first things i purchased (and its cheaper now to boot) the tuning process is 10000x better now cause you get 1 on 1 time with jeff and you can talk to him and ask him question + get your tune right on the spot.

The base map is still worth it but after you get that v1 tune (do a log on your car) turn it over to jeff and he gives you the v1map (ecu settings for making your car perform better changing redline/idle and a ton of other settings for your car) it will blow your ******' mind.

I'm currently on my 3rd tune and i'm seriously speechless as to how great the car runs and performs now. I was disappointed with tune 2 but jeff said thats normal from 1-3 you might not see anything at all and 4-5-6 is where the moneys at.

Would i recommend getting it?
HELL YEA MAN! Single best mod besides the Short shifter and midpipe.

I bought mine from vivid racing and I only have the stage one map... how much is it to have jeff tune it. For what we all have paid for it I can't see paying a ton more to actually have it tuned to our specs. Im very interested in this... I look at mine as useless so far

unless you would prefer to be called an incompetent retard then please stop calling knowledgeable people here *******. You are not entitled to be led by the hand and spoon fed off of a silver platter, not to mention that most of the first people to start spouting off on stuff like this are just as clueless as you are. In time you will realize that people telling you like it is are your greatest allies, not ********. So get over taking it personal and stop cozying up to people who only mislead you by telling what you want to hear rather than what you need to know.

Well I have quit a few mods done to my 8 and I was going to hold off for the tuning when I put my turbo on. however it is running pretty rough at an idle and spits and sputters now so before the turbo I want a tune. is it still around 300 for his maps?? was the last I checked

pretty sure every thread this guy created could have been answered by doing a simple search. Unfortunately being 16 and ignorant doesn't help his case.

I've linked the New and Potential owners thread in every one of his threads. Apparently he hasn't read it yet.

Read this: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-forum-197/new-potential-owners-start-here-202454/

It will at least teach you how to search.

Calling mods ******** will get you nowhere

Can anyone tell me if those links that MM posted say anything about the AP?

I don't want to click on them if they don't.

Yea your best bet is to get the turbo on first then buy the MM tune service. Not much difference than what a shop would ask for getting it tuned.

Holy crap... they must be using some serious compression scheme to fit it all on a 1.44M floppy.... It does say 2005 though so these days they may just need a CD to include it all.

By the way, I read through this and was laughing my head off. Nothing wrong with asking some F*** idiot to perform a search.

I charge roughly half of what a shop will charge.
