Clutch, Flywheel, and Exhaust!!

Well went down to a local shop today and ordered the following:
Exedy Stage 1 Clutch
ACT Flywheel and Counterweight
HKS Hi-Power Single Side Exhaust (If it wasnt for Deedubbs satisfaction I wouldnt of got it!!! )

All should be in thursday afternoon/evening, the clutch should be replaced same day and as soon as I pick it up Ill be installing the Exhaust! Can't wait to get my baby back, I miss her soo much!

Stay tuned for pics as well as videos and sound clips!

-Patrick

P.S. Should I go with AFE Short Shifter next? or the Racing Beat Flash?

Find a local user with the SS and feel it out. Also see if anyone has the flash, and ask them what they think of it.

I heard that the flash lets you go past the redline beep and it just hauls ***. (info from Phantom who I believe rode in 8rotor8's car?) he made me so interested in this mod ever since the day i bought my exhaust from him. Over in the "best mods" thread, short shifter and flywheel came up the most so ill take the word of my fellow 8er's and probably go with the shifter. or ill just get them both at the same time.

You could probably do the exhaust yourself and save some money.

I think you should do what I did, which is wait for a month or two before you buy the short shifter... I dunno how the Exedy clutch acts like, but when I recently had my ACT clutch/flywheel combo installed (at the same time I had my clutch line changed too SS), it was such a hard idea to control the clutch for the first two days. If I had my short shifter then, then I know I would've had an extremely hard time. And let me tell you, with an exhaust, people can hear you suck at driving... I doubt your's will be as loud as mine though unless you changed the cat.

thanks for the info Keef, makes alot of sense. Certainly will wait till the clutch is broken in and im comfortable with it. In the meantime, should I order the Flash?

dude, i have the short shifter as well. it feels AWESOME. but as for performance, the shifter wont make you shift that much faster. its mostly for the feel. i recommend you go either flywheel and cluthc or the flash.

Got word earlier that my car will be done friday at noon. parts come in tomorrow around 2 ish then im taking them straight to the shop. I decided on doing the exhaust install myself. Also the shop approved that I could come by and take some pics during the install of the clutch/flywheel so pics will be up tomorrow, too bad none will be of the exhaust, that will be friday. super excited.

Well got my car back today, was busy trying to break my clutch in all day i didnt post the pics.

So I got the pics in now, first up: my old stuff (Look at all that damage!!, past owner was horrible)

Now for the Goodies!!

Counterweight:

Exedy Stage 1 Clutch:

ACT Streetlite Flywheel:

seems like the car has really been brought to life now, taking some time to get familiar with the new feel and such, ive gotten the occasional stall every now and then but overall im very happy with it.

Stay tuned, my new HKS Hi-Power Exhaust System should be arriving tomorrow so pics to come!!

Yeah that is one dead clutch. Absolutely no material left. Right down to the rivets. I've never seen one that beat before mainly because they stop working long before that.

i got the streetlite. i heard the prolite is lighter yet due to its extreme light weight it reduces torque? anyone have any further info?

the streetlite is somewhat heavier yet the weight gives a better momentum and helps improve torque?

thats what I was told, anyone second this?

How many more "reviews" do we need about flywheels and flashes? 99% of those who get them both, love them and recommend them. What are you waiting for?
what you talkin about willis???

that disc is done, way done.. and what i am looking at is a cat with a cell or to gone wild, and a big mfing crack...

pony up cowboy!!!!

I went and re-checked all the photos, which were loaded, and I don't see a pic with a catpipe in it. I see a wasted disc, the likes of which I have never seen before. Disc material wrapped around anything that will hold it. That's weird. I wonder if tranny problems are close by. If the clutch bracket is not giving out, probably not.
top right,

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...5&postcount=12

the really odd thing is that the cat is rotated 90 deg in the photo.

so who really knows.. but that is the front of a cat.. and it is in distress.

i am sure i dont anything about anything right now.. but.

oh I can't wait to get my HKS Hi-Power on.

Looking at the Exedy clutch, too, but a Fidanza flywheel. Or possibly the ACT Prolite flywheel. Haven't made up my mind yet
