Question Can sum 1 help me out with performance issues?

Hey~ I'm a new Rx-8 owner, and I'm lookin to do some tuning up on my car. I don't actually know too much, so can sum 1 help me out a lil?

I generally put a shitload of mileage on my cars, cuz I drive a min. of 60 miles/day, but I'm not exactly the most patient, calm, or cautious driver in the world, :D hehe... I like cornering harshly, and obviously like sweet accelleration.

Can anyone suggest some things to do? Possilbly like an entire package... and explain why some things are better than others?
For example... superchargers vs. turbos.... short ram vs. cold... etc...
And if possible, approximately how much they'll set me back?

Oh yeah... I also heard the Japanese models are 255 horse... but they had to tune it down to 238 cuz of emissions for CA. I live in Canada so our emissions limits are quite flexible~ Anybody know how to turn that back up?

By the way... I'm not just a horsepower freak.... I want a shitload of torque too :D
Thx~

Good luck getting a lot of torque out of a rotary engine. I would recommend you start by going to the vendors section of the forum and look at Canzoomer's section. He not only manufactures an ECU upgrade but he carries many aftermarket parts as well.

At this moment, there are no Big performance products out yet besides Canzoomer's stages. There are a few super chargers and turbo projects that are happening or finished, SSR i believe finished and are giving prices. They're the only ones. There are a few who turboed, in the austrian forum if i can remember, but they are only pushing like +50, cant remember numbers. Another was in cali or somewhere i believe, but mods deleted the thread. Big problem their having is ECU tuning. Thats basically the summary in whats going on. But for torque, its hard to get it out of the rotary engine as said above. Other performace mods would be handling or exhaust, or intake. Hope this helps.

To address these points - no, the JDM RX-8s are rated at 250PS, which is a Japanese rating scale - a PS is slightly smaller than an SAE BHP, so in fact their 250 PS is very close to our 238 BHP.

Also - Canada's emissions regs are identical to the US, and they're certainly NOT flexible! They may not have the same annual testing, but that doesn't change what the regs are.

Regards,
Gordon

I thought 250PS was equal to 247 HP?

It is, nearly. 250 metric HP or "PS" is 246.49 HP SAE net.
