Awwww yeah!

Thanks, Digi..I just ordered the Borla from em. 2-5 working days it'll be here, so the site says...

$588.20 total. Not bad at all.

Epit, you'll get to hear it soon :)
Shoot, if you wanna help with the install, that's cool too, heh.

Now, time to check out the threads concerning the install and this supposed rattling problem...

I just ordered mine this past weekend from socalmotorsports in CA for $574.99 shipped to Alabama. It was the best price I found.

And did they actually have the exhaust in stock..as in, did you get it by now? I ordered it a week and a half ago from another vendor, and it hasn't even been shipped yet. Their website claimed they had 5 in stock, but they were out since the beginning of march. They had to re-order from borla. It just kind of bugs me that I was slightly misled, and subsequently must wait something like 2 and a half weeks to get it, when they said 2-5 days. They couldn't offer me any compensation either. I was given the option to cancel my order, but at this point, why even bother?

I ain't bad mouthin them, I'm just sharing my particular experience. I'm pretty sure they're solid usually. Crap just happens. I just wound up getting shafted this time. Oh well.

Rotary Taz 03-25-2004 05:57 PM

Mine has not yet arrived either and it has now been two weeks. I was given about the same reason as were you, out of stock and had to order from Borla. I also wasn't told about the backorder.

here are install instructions that someone else posted and it helped alot.

Total installation time was right at two hours. At least 3/4ths of that time was the removal of the old exhaust. Borla did a great job with their kit, which makes the install a piece of cake. We placed the back of the car up on jack stands, which gave us enough room to work.

1) Disconnect the spring nuts at the cat/pipe junction and remove the two bolted on clamps on the pipe.
2) Remove the left exhaust finisher and disconnect the ground wire.
3) Disconnect the exhaust from the four rubber rings nearest the exhaust, then the final one in front of the muffler. We found that the easiest way to do this was with a little Dawn dish soap and warm water in a spray bottle.
4) Next, remove the old exhaust. We had to jack the right rear up a little higher in order to feed the tip through the right finisher.
5) We installed the Borla muffler and tips first. A little more soap and water helped here.
6) We then installed the left exhaust finisher and attached the ground wire. You will need an M6 1.0 nut for this.
7) Finally, install the new pipe and tighten down the clamps that hold the pipe and the right tip to the muffler.

I think that covers it all. If anyone has any questions, post them or feel free to PM me.

The sound and look are both great.

Borla Exhaust w/o Finishers. Will plastic melt?

I recently had my Borla cat-back exhause installed (about 3 mos ago) but I do not have exhaust finishers. I have not had any problems with the plastic melting and I was just wondering if anyone has had that problem with the Borla Exhaust. The tips appear to stick out far enough that the plastic would not melt but any input from people with the same exhaust would be very beneficial.
I am looking to do a few more mods on my car and I just want to know how high the exhaust finishers should be on my to-do list.

Thanks everyone!

Nope, I've had mine on for 2500 + miles and have not had any problem.

BoxerGT2.5 03-28-2004 09:24 PM

I've had mine for 4 mos and no probs here.

BoxerGT2.5 03-28-2004 09:26 PM

and......if you want a good product to polish those tips, I found Eagle One Never Dull metal polish works great. :)

epitrochoid 03-28-2004 09:37 PM

i finally got to hear a borla last night. wow, all i gotta say.

racing beat's got a tough customer to win over now :D

paradigm 03-29-2004 02:05 AM

I've had mine for nearly 10000 (yes, that's ten thousand) miles, and there's no melting.

God of Thunder 03-30-2004 08:53 AM

Only thing the Borla melts is my heart every time it goes pop pop.

Jaes_rx8 03-30-2004 12:30 PM

hey guys?how is the borla?does it sound nice?how much horsepower does it give you?

BoxerGT2.5 03-30-2004 03:52 PM

I happen to like the borla exhaust. Has a nice tone to it and the tips don't tinge blue/gold from the heat, which was the one thing that stopped me from getting the Greddy exhaust. As far as the power goes I am not certain (I really don't remember what the car felt like with the stock exhaust). I do know that I will feel a much bigger difference once that B&B midpipe lands on my doorstep.

SMigneco 03-31-2004 05:21 AM

I absolutely love my Borla exhaust. I have no complaints about it whatsovever. It sounds great. At normal driving speeds you can barely notice that the car has been modified but when you punch the gas the rotary engine ROARS to life.
As for performance, I cannot give you an exact figure because I have not had mine dyno'd. Plus, I put the exhaust on 2 days after I put the K&N Intake on and with the two combined I defnitely feel a noticeable difference in power.

Thanks to everyone else that responded to my original post on this thread. Looks like I will be doing the fender strakes before the exhaust finishers.

adrian-1 03-31-2004 10:51 AM

I received mine from socalmotorsports this morning. I unpacked it and found it was missing the ground stud. I don't think it broke off, since there's no markings or any pieces left in the box.
Called borla tech support and left msg. I'll figure something out (maybe use a small metal hose clamp and attach it to the nearest hanger).
Not sending it back for such a small detail. Anyone else have a missing ground stud?
I even bought the M6 1.0 nut from home depot yesterday.

And to answer your question, I have about 7,500 miles on my Borla and have not had any problems with melting plastic. :D

Jaes_rx8 03-31-2004 12:33 PM

oh man!yall make me wanna get my borla right now!!!im sacin up..im almost there tho...yeah i also just put my k&n yesterday!im lovin it...hey do you all noe if the borla will ruin the warranty on the car?

BoxerGT2.5 03-31-2004 12:41 PM

Nope....won't void squat.

rudy8 03-31-2004 12:46 PM

Greddy with way larger tips running 7000+ miles no problem. Stage1 of one trim or another for the past 3000 or so and again, no problems.

I think it's safe to say this is a non-issue :D

adrian-1 03-31-2004 02:28 PM

I looked everywhere for it and this was right after I took it out of the box not installed. Hey rudy8 email me the picture just to know exactly where it should go. adrian-1@cox-internet.com
Talked to the borla tech and he said it really needs to be grounded securely or it'll throw up a check engine light. Emailed him the picture and he said that's where it should be. He's sending me the stud and I'll get it welded on at some muffler shop.
Just finished installing it by myself and I'm very satisfied. Temporarily rigged the ground onto the hanger.
May have to adjust the right tailpipe some more, but as far as I can tell, it's straight.
Pictues to follow after the test drive (~6hrs :) )
