BHR Midpipe
I have a sorta awkward to explain question..so bare with me.
Many tuner shops in Japan, such as KnightSports and AutoExe have midpipes that are "tuned" to match their catback exhausts. Now I'm not sure if that means the pipe design is to make a specific sound/tone or somehow controls HP gains.. but that being said, how are those midpipes different then any other midpipe or BHR's?
Is BHR's "tuned" for the upcoming catback or is it really just universal, or coming out with another? I guess I'm more focusing on more reasons to find out why BHR's is amazing and others are not. lol

Gotcha. Thanks for the input Ray.
BTW their stuff is just on their website, but not a big deal. I just was mainly curious what the term " tuned midpipe" for a catback means. Is it for sound/tone..or HP and all. But not really a big deal anyways.

You couldn't be more wrong! See the difference between a "tuned" midpipe and any other midpipe is a 10% increase in costs for the consumer.
For example... lets say we have a BHR midpipe (good choice
) and a BHR tuned midpipe. As nice as the regular BHR midpipe might be, the BHR tuned midpipe still costs 10% more, therefore putting it in a higher class.
Of course it isn't a standard rate... it can vary up to a percent or 2, but that's the basic idea.

The tuned pipes I know from my RC plane days were "tuned" to length. The pipe created back pressure and you would adjust the length until the wave created by that pressure matched the stroke of the engine.. a point where the engine would then create maximum power.
Since the object of the BHR pipe is to allow the most air to flow freely through the exhaust I'm having a hard time figuring out how one would actually "tune" it.
edit: Did some searching and found this article about it: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m.../ai_n13498021/ It basically describes the scavenging effect of the tuned pipe.

OK, how about a larger one for the car?

Ditto
There's a pretty lengthy thread discussing "tuned" headers somewhere around here. search for that and read all about why theoretically, the engine will get the best power if you ignore the "tuning" and just aim for max flow...

I think this might be the one you're thinking of... if not, it's still a good (long) read...

I understand the aspects of the tuned mid-pipe that some of you are discussing but I can honestly say that BHR is not taking that approach with our mid-pipe design. Assuming it would be possible to produce such a mid-pipe, the cost vs. benefit would be so far skewed that it wouldn't be affordable nor practicle.
What we're working to bring to market is a well built, well priced item that produces a sound that people will like.
