HKS is the best sounding in my opinion.

no idea what performance difference these give, if any.

None of the exhausts are gonna give you much gain, it's your midpipe that will yield more hp. My recommendation is to get the RP Supercat and then whatever exhaust you personally like.

It gives photos, and in some cases links to sound clips. Given the power debate about these various exhaust systems, looks and soud will mean a lot. Through all 11 pages, there is probably some information he can pick up here and there to help his decision.

And RB may have claimed 8hp from a full catless exhaust, but Rotary Performance and TurboXS (with a forum member as witness) observed a ~20hp gain from a midpipe and cat back. Whoever you choose to believe is your opinion, but both sides are reputable enough to throw weight to the argument.

Thats why I told him to go with the RP Supercat in my earlier post. Its not the exhaust giving that ~20 hp gain... its the midpipe.

edit: and its not my opinion, its been proven through multiple dyno's from owners including myself.

In terms of just a cat back system, I agree with what you're saying, little hp to be gained there - which was my point with the photos and sound clips.

And I didn't fully read your earlier post regarding getting the RP cat with a cat back. I think that so much is the way to go, that that is the way I went with my own car. I had the RP cat and felt a slight pull in the high rpms, a year later I added a cat back (Tanabe) and felt zero increase in power.

Helix would be my favorite exhaust except it never went past the prototype stage. One of the member here have it and posted a sound clip. It sounds very exotic and a little V10 rumble. The only complaint I have with it is the way it is designed. It dips very low to avoid the rear diff and it looks like it will scrape on the littlest bump.

...The only "full exhaust" I know if is made by RE Amemiya, with their header, midpipe, and dolpin-tip catback. So..that would make that the ONLY option.

IMO (which is limited at the moment), RP Super-cat, Mazdaspeed Sport Catback.

FEED also makes a header for the 8, just FYI... a bit pricey though, last I saw it was 1300...
