b&b midpipe way too loud!!!!

I just installed my bb midpipe tonight and the sound is way too loud. I have the bb exhaust too and i dont think the sound is withstandable. I dont think ive ever heard a car this loud before. I havent even gone past 4500 rpm because i know that the sound will be even louder than it already is. Either I'm going to remove the midpipe or I can find a way to lower the sound of the car. Is there anything that I can add to the midpipe to make the db of the car not as loud? For those with the b&b midpipe, is the sound of your car really loud? Im going to check to see if I tightened everything bolt to make sure that might be the problem, but im pretty sure that all the bolts are tight.

Lots of people have been adding resonators, which, depending on what resonator you get, won't really effect flow.

^ all teh mid-pipes of friends cars i know have a resonator (evo 8, wrx sti) b/c they can be stupid loud...even worse on a rotary.

how hard would it be to add a resonator? personaly i think i'll just get teh high flow cat....that should muffel the sound a lill bit don't you think?

The B&B midpipe that i have has a resonator on it already... but its still loud. the midpipe is not like the one shown on the vivid site. i saw the diy resonator install and may do that. How much of a change will the resonator make?

how about glass pack mufflers? The exhaust should be cool enough since it's further downstream. Get the drilled version instead of the louvre. That should held flow.

Hey, I notice you have the b n b midpipe setup with the stock exhaust. Wondering was there any problems? is the sound too loud, compare to a regular greddy exhuast? is their any perfomance gains, or should i say your butt dyno? And would the midpipe be shootin flames if it rev at high rpms..
Wondering if it worthed before i buy it. thanx

ha ha, yeah its crazy loud. I use to have the rp midpipe w/ the B&B, and man it sounded like a full blown gt car, it did sound nice wot. When I had my rp midpipe with stock exhaust it was pretty nice. Its really quiet but at 4k it gets raspy like an m3 and then at 6k it gets quiet again. The performance gain is awsome though.

D I have the Greddy exhaust w/the B&B midpipe and the REVi Intake. :D Oh yea, it's loud. :D

The best part though is it isn't obnoxious when I'm just driving around town going easy. Yes you can hear me, but it's not loud enough for anyone to complain.

Now when it's WOT, all bets are off and you better watch out because it sounds AWESOME!!!

Dasiy, how much did those mods cost altogether and do you feel enough performance increase to warrant their price? I'm in Dallas as well and have been wanting to upgrage my baby as well. Guess I should shell out some cash to get a small dent repaired first

I have the B&B cat back with racing pipe. It increased performance, but it was some what loud. I was concerned I would blow out the neighbors windows when I fired up in the mornings. Put in a glass pack and that toned it down just right. Tell you one thing, it does not sound like the RX8 you drive from the lot.

One thing putting in the B&B system revealed because you have to take out the cat, the RX8 is set real rich for US imports. I am still tuning it back. Man I get some of the most spectacular tail pipe flashes when I run up the RPM and let it drop. On the track, I get a lot of attention and thumbs up with my dragon fire display on the straight-aways.

Wow these set-ups are far from loud. I have heard daisy's in person and it was decent sound. Try driving with a 3 inch straight pipe dumped under the car midway. Now that is loud, but oh so nice.

I love my SRT. Just need to try and get this RX8 up to speed with it now.

hmm, how much louder is loud?? is there any clips online of a full b&b setup, midpipe and axle/catback.

the stock exhaust is too quiet for me, i like to hear the engine and just get road and car feedback in general...thats why i got a "sportscar"

yes, cats tend to muffle the sound a bit as the flow goes through them. eliminating it will definately turn up the volume. remember fellows, mazda probes this sight and there has been someone who has lost their warranty. There is a thread for those who don't believe. Cat-back is no problem but eliminating the cat will void it all, no excpetions. Plus taking it on and off will lead to wear, scuffs, offsetting colors on each pipe, etc. They will notice and they will burn you. best advice is to hull it out so it "looks" as though it is still there.

Oops, didn't mean to drop the ball on you. The exhaust was $525, midpipe $200 and intake $300. I definitely felt the jump in performance after the midpipe was installed and even more so after the intake. The intake is definitely worth it and I love the sound of the exhaust/midpipe combo, so it's all worth it to me. :D

Shameless plug: come to the BBQ in September (and if I have already told you about it, please forgive me :o ). There will be TONS of 7s and 8s for you to compare sound to and the owners will be there to talk about performance.

Thanks Uncivilracer. I had my exhaust off for a couple days before my wreck and the pipe dumped just after the cat. OMFG, it was so loud. It was great at idle, but I had a headache for 3 days straight because of the sheer magnitude of the sound. I don't see how anyone could handle that long-term.
