Autoparts stores don't seem to cary our air filter

I went looking for a new airfilter yesterday and came up with nothing. My only option was to go to Mazda. I did a search and found out that Racing beat sold a washable one and decided on that. I figured I couldn't go wrong for $55. I will update once I get it installed. Has anyone else been able to find a Fram or other brand airfilter for our 8's?

You thought Autozone, or Pep Boys had an air filter for the RX-8?

well--you can have them order a K&N filter. Or go to ProAm on Richmond--I got a few odds and ends for my FD from them.

Green Filter is great. And washable. I think this is the most widely used drop-in replacement filter on the board.

You should be able to get it for $65 on ebay and green stores.

Drop In Air Filter

Picked up the Racing Beat drop in filter but can't get the air box open. Unplugged the electronics and released the clamps per the manual but can't get it open more than an inch and it takes force to do that. What am I missing?
