I had this configuration for a while (intake and high flow cat). The sound was fine. I too was concerned about the "ricey" sound but did have a problem. I had the RP cat which I will reccomend.

I say go for it.

I'm still waiting to install my high flow cat but I have the Revi and Ram air. I plan on making sound clips before and after. I wouldn't mind posting them up, but I'll have to find a place to host it.

I bought from RX8store. Check out this thread - https://www.rx8club.com/rx8store-62/midpipe-highflo-cat-pricing-80014/

Malamore has the Revi with the SR high flow and it sounds nice. Not loud, but a person can definitely tell there is a difference from stock when the RPMs are cranked up.

Same as me?

If so I hope your perception of loud is quieter than mine. I don't need extra attention.

I have this exact same setup. I didn't like the sound at first, coz to me it sounded like a scooter when I apply heavy load. Other than that, it is not loud. It rubbles in a deep tone. It's quiet at idle. Below 4K RPM sounds really nice. Above that, it gets louder and higher pitched.

Oh and I have leaner AFR mixtures up top, so that might contribute too.

I was going to say the same V8 comment, but I didn't want to sound like a dreamer. So I guess it's not just me. The rumble at cruising speeds sounds like a V8 to me.

ok so it's safe to say that it isn't loud when cruising. i really don't care how loud it is when it's WOT but i just want to be quiet normal driving.

I have the Revi w/air duct, Magnaflow cat back and the S&R high flow cat plus a resonator and I set off car alarms way before I get to the cars.I'm actually considering selling my exhaust or h/f cat.I'm gonna see if I can have another muffler or resonator installed somewhere to minimize the sound some.

I'm sure you can, if you weld a new piece in place of the resonator.

Muffler shops can normally do this.

resonators only remove rasp, they do not quiet the exhaust like a muffler

none other than the minimal weight gain, it's a straight-thru design

The word resonator makes me think of it is doing the opposite of what it does.

Does it make the sound lower? If it does then I see where it can resonate.

It resonates the raspiness sounds away, but does not muffle. Feel better now?

Resonator
The function of the resonator is to remove exhaust resonance or "boom" at particular engine loads without restricting exhaust gas flow affecting engine performance.
Like any true resonance system, it has to be tuned specifically for the entire exhaust system used or it will likely not be effective ... people using the MS dual-can exhaust are reporting boom despite having the OE resonator in place

That makes sense. Those MS exhausts with the dual cans can be very obnoxious. At least that is what the videos portray.

no CEL, unless you are going for a catless midpipe. Some aren't even getting CEL with their catless midpipe (very rare though).
