Another Pully install

Hey just wanted to let everyone know that the March issue of Super Street has an install with pics and some info on the UR pullies for our 8's seems to be just about the same as the RX tuner one. A dyno at the end showed a 10.8 hp gain. just a heads up.

I saw that. 10 hp gains..., I might have to move that up on the list of installs. are these the ones that are lightweight or underdriven or both?

Well looking back at the article, it says thye are 1lb 9.8oz lighter than stock and the web site says underdriven. They look good to me as well but, I guess since they have other colors than silver for other cars. I'd like to get them in blue to match but if not still seems good, unless cortec finalizes his light ones.

I believe the dyno in the Super Street article was taken directly from Unorthodox Racing. Actually, I believe UR did the install and took the pictures.

Guys, I don't think cotec was going to make them from Ti. If he did you couldn't afford them. He'd have to get a bank loan to buy the material. The scrap from 10 sets would make his car payment. Maybe two.

I think he was making titanium bolts, and aluminum pulleys.

I would quess that dyno run was made in a very low gear, like first.
As the gears go up you get to zero improvment.
cortec has some data on that but I never got it from the horses mouth what gear they were using. How about that cortec?

Ok, guys...

I have to get this CF Dash POD project finished up and then I will get the pulleys back on track (Time is not a commodity for me these days)... The pulleys are going to be aluminum and the bolts titanium... By the way the bolts are allready available, I will be doing a GB some time in the next few weeks just for the bolts and alternator nut and the set will not be very expensive...

Dyno, runs are usually done in third with inertial type dynos; when the project gets back on track I will get my hands on an RX8 demo and do some pulls in 5th...

But this really is not needed as the intended benefit of the pulleys is for freeing up hp for acceleration and improving throttle response not for improving constant hp figures like the ones you get on a brake dyno...

Oh, and the runs I did where in 3rd (third)...
