Well would you know what the kirkistown series is?

no......perhaps its because your in a different country from me.....

Yes the new intake manifold would be for cosmetic reasons only. All it was intended for was engine dress up.

The silly plastic intake manifold doesn't heat soak nearly as fast as a silly aluminum one. The silly plastic intake manifold weighs less than a silly aluminum one. Please don't say it's heavier than aluminum tubing either. If it came in aluminum, it would be cast just like the silly aluminum lower intake manifold.

The intake manifold on the Renesis is the best intake ever applied to a rotary over the widest range. I have never seen another design that could make it better and even race teams that ARE allowed to change the manifolds haven't. That says alot!

For forced induction use it could be argued that the plastic doesn't have the hoop strength that aluminum would so it would be better to upgrade it. This is the only excuse I can think of to change it.

I have wanted to try some ideas but if I could easily mold a new plastic one, I'd definitely go that route. It's not really all that silly.

LOL, I wouldn't call the Nissan 350Z an "International Exotic", (well, perhaps if I owned a Tempo) but I get your point.

I won't take credit for that write up. This was copied straight from Grand-Am's website.

I still got a chuckle out of it, I mean, come on.

I am still a padawan in the grand scheme of things but I do try to help out where I can. Thanks for the encouragement Scott.

does the greddy lower intake manifold work on normally aspirated cars

olddragger 01-17-2009 11:39 AM

agreed that this intake is good for the na car--for fi cars there are a few small things that can be done---the intake was not designed for a fi kit.
i have an aftermarket upper aluminum intake with the pettit kit and just like RG and others say it does heat soak much worst than the "plastic"
OD

04RX8man 01-17-2009 11:51 AM

for looks yo could paint it as done before but just like the actual intake on this car it's set up about as good as u are going to get.....

do you mean the GReddy exhaust manifold....?

:scratchhe

CraigRX8 01-17-2009 04:20 PM

no that would be an exhaust manifold and not an air intake manifold

kevinD1226 01-17-2009 05:44 PM

i dont believe there has been a aftermarket intake manifold done.. there would be no reason to make one nor would there be enough of a market for what they would have to sell it for..

VS8 01-17-2009 07:27 PM

greddy has one search rx8 gredd intake manifold on google....i was just wondering if NA cars could use

Rotr8 01-17-2009 08:22 PM

that is quit odd, someones gotta get this and see how well it works, and if there are any benefits over the oem...

the_duke313 01-17-2009 08:52 PM

wow that is really weird i thought he was making it up but its true there is one.
it looks like a small plenum after the throttle into the lim.

would that not put the tb on the left side of the engine too?

CraigRX8 01-17-2009 09:10 PM

post a pic someone?

05rex8 01-18-2009 12:10 AM

someone post a link or pic please

looks like it and if your paying attention to or worried about little differences in engine bay tempatures that would be the hotter side with the exhaust manifold right under it...

I saw that earlier....the only thing is GReddy doesn't even make mention of a intake manifold on their website for the RX-8. I say this thing doesn't exist. That pic is a manifold for a piston engine

that would not bolt up to our LIM

i watched the Spy all day waiting for someone to state the obvious about that....

05rex8 01-18-2009 11:17 PM

I kind of did, right above zoom's post

zoom44 01-18-2009 11:21 PM

i sent one of the companies selling a message asking for a photo of the real product and explaining that the pictured item wont work on the Renny

Rotr8 01-18-2009 11:25 PM

It does however seem that it would fit the REW 13B, at least visually

05rex8 01-18-2009 11:28 PM

I wonder why GReddy's website doesn't even mention this item for our car
