Agency Power exhaust? Or TurboXS

Hey,
I am the type of person who just loves the sound of the rotary engine. I never turn on the radio and I ALWAYS drive with my windows down because I love the noise my car makes when shifting through the gears and such. That being said my AEM intake is the best mod I have so far as it really unleashed a lot of the sound from my engine bay.
I have been searching for an exhaust, and honestly the louder the better, and the one that has the "best" sound to me is the Agency Power one. However, I have just come across one called TurboXS. To me they LOOK to be the same. Both catless, both shoot flames, both seem to be loud. However, the Agency Power one has a particular reputation for being the loudest and I was wondering if anybody knew if the TurboXS was just as loud?

So main point is, I know the performance upgrade is nominal so I'm buying the exhaust for the fun of driving and hearing the rotary engines power that is silenced by the stock muffler.
Agency Power = $750.00.
TurboXS = 450.00.
Does somebody know if they both have the same sound volume? Or is there any major reason I should pick the Agency Power one over the one that is half the price?

Yeah, I've been searching believe me. But it's very difficult to gauge noise level based on an online video. For example I posted a video of my RX-8 with no exhaust and it was LOOOOUUUDDD, sounded like I was at the race track. However, if you watch the video and didn't know I was screaming at the top of my lungs and you couldn't hear a word I was saying, it just sounds close to normal.

The other part of my search is posting on hear to get feedback

I have the AP with the cat-delete midpipe and love it. A tad raspy at the 3500-4000 RPM range but it's got a nice tone. It is loud when you get on it but it's got a deep tone at low RPM's and isn't too bad when you're just cruising. Definitely would recommend it!

Opinions vary. I had the HKS Hi-power and now the TurboXS and both with my catless BHR midpipe. I have had the pleasure of seeing and hearing just about every RX-8 catback.

To me, the AP catback looks cheap at the tips, they are thin and flimsy and the ti coloring doesn't last long (my HKS ti tip still looked new after many miles). The TurboXS is of excellent build quality and has proven to last as well. As for sound, well the AP and TurboXS are loud. Neither are as loud or have a great tone like my HKS Hi-power did. I regret selling my HKS but I wanted the dual tip look again and I do like the look of the TurboXS better. I'd like to see a review of the Megan ti tipped exhaust, it's looks really nicely built for a low priced cat back.

I also recently installed the Exotic Speed with a catless BHR midpipe and although I heard of the Exoticspeed being very loud, it is not. Don't base your decisions off of video or sound clips, hear it live.

That particular Exoticspeed exhaust isn't that loud because he bought the quiet version that uses a resonator pinched down to a 2" diameter straw through it. Backpressure is not friendly to Renesis side seals. It is also new and will change in time following numerous heat soaks from your infamous canyon runs ...

Yeah the Exoticspeed has started to get a bit louder, I'm not sure just how loud though. Hoss's car will not see any of our canyon runs anytime soon but as soon as mine is broken in it will Then after a couple thousand miles it's time for another trip to Harris Hill and you should join us!

I believe there is another Exotic speed rx8 exhaust and you are correct it is loud. With my exhaust order came a chance that I would have to alter it. I knew that going into it. I had hoped that it simply had a third none restrictive muffler. Not the case.

i would go ap over the turbo xs. i did a bit of checking around before i got mine. ive had the full ap for close to two years and still love it, its loud as hell. someone mentioned the megan racing exhaust which i was also looking into. it looks just like the ap but i believe it has only one resonator and is 2.5 inch. if you decide on the ap, pm adam at thmotorsports. great guy, stupid fast/free shipping, and great customer support

Yeah, only thing is the agency power one is almost 200.00 more. Here's what i have found so far and I wanna see what input you guys have.

1. Several sites and sources say they gained 12 hp form the TurboXS catback, and an additional 13hp from the TurboXS race pipe that replaces the cat.

2. The TurboXS catback is louder than the AgencyPower catback because it has a single resonator rather than a dual resonator.

3. The AgencyPower has a horrible drone when cruising at a constant speed and RPM (say 65-70 mph in 6th so about.. 4k rpm) and the TurboXS does not.

How much if any of this is true? Why or why not?

Thank you guys so much

the only real hp gain will come from removing the cat (midpipe). advertised hp gains are complete bs. i would think the turbo xs would drone more than the ap, as it has less resonators but im not an expert on that. you can find the xs for $499 shipped and i think my ap was something like $640 shipped iirc. its your call but nothing is cheap to do to these cars. just remember catbacks are mostly for sound and not hp. any real hp gained with an exhaust system is gained from the mid pipe (cattless or hi flow). again advertised hp gains are pretty much bs. i love my ap and at highway speeds 80mph in 6th gear 4k, i dont mind the sound but thats up to you

hope this helps

+1, if you are lucky and have a solid engine to start with you will get 5-10HP from a midpipe and catback.

All I can say is the quality of the Turbo XS is very good and several people have the AP and like I said, the tips fade pretty quickly and look thin an cheap IMO. As for sound, both are loud, especially with a catless midpipe. Sound can be adjusted with any exhaust very easily. Just pick up some resonators and have them welded in for $20.00.

Thanks man, she does look good for being over 8 years old. But really I just never let her get dirty and wax/clay bar at least once a year, usually more. My hood is starting to show it's age so she will go into the bodyshop in a few months.

Thumbs up agency power vs. turboxs

i have a friend with a 2005 rx8 with a header and a turbo xs cat back, and i have a 04 rx8 with the agency power catback with no headers, so i have heard both side by side in person... his has a super loud backfire, but thats probably due to his header, mine is a bit louder, and shoots flames easier, but both are loud and i like both equally... preformance wise, agency power may be your best option, its worth the money!

I too did the TurboXS and BHR marriage and it sounds awesome. I remember installing it and getting it back and testing out the sounds in my driveway and made my neighbor's little girl cry from revving it even SLIGHTLY.

Oh, please explain to me how the AP is better than the TurboXS.

Is it the thin single walled tips that make it melt the exhaust shrouds? Or maybe the flanges on the midpipe that are not actually 3" because they taper down?

Nice man, it's a great exhaust. You should hear it with the TurboXS midpipe, that would really make her cry.
