Aftermarket Pulley check engine light?

Aftermarket Pulley check engine light?
So.... to make the long story short after a few trips to the dealership they are tellng me that my check engine light is on because of the aftermarket pulley I have on. (I purchased the car used so I dont know a ton about the pulley, but it looks like its either the agency power one or the SR motorsports one. )
Also as far as I can tell there is only one aftermarket pulley, and this is the only modification currently on the car.
Has anyone else had just an aftermarket pulley on the car and the check engine light on?

But since you purchased the car used, this should have been taken care of already.
Have you had the CEL since you got the car or did it just come one one day?
I agree that you should take it to Autozone and have the code pulled so we can see what it really is.

Thanks so much for all of the help/comments so far guys.
The dealership told me the code is for a misfire, but that it is not actually a misfire but simply something wrong with the sensor due to the pulley.
The CEL has been on since I purchased the car and they told me it was because the aftermarket exhaust that was on it, (AP) and so I replaced that with a stock one.... and now the light is still on and they are telling me it is the pulley that is causing the incorrect code to come up.
They have reset it.... I will go to autozone and see what the actual code is tomorrow.

If they reset it, Autozone can't pull the code. The CEL has to be on.

After resetting the code @ autozone, dont leave the parking lot so fast, stay there and do this
turn ur ignition to on, but dont start the car. quickly tap ur brake pedal 20 times in 8 seconds, shouldn't be hard. when succeed u should see the Oil Pressure needle flip thru half way then drop back. Now turn ur car back off, then start it normally and drive

the code was what 302 ? P0302? U0302? or something else ?
if it came back so fast its probably not the pulley.
if its p0302, your Rear rotor is having misfire. but u never mention a word about seeing "blinking CEL b4 it stays completely on" then its probably something else.

That actually is exactly what happened, the light blinked a few times and then blinked and stayed on. Now it blinks when I am around 4000 RPM usually.
The guys at autozone just said the code was 302 and there was a misfire in the second rotor.
What does the tap brake 20x actually do? It worked for a while before, but I dont want to just keep having this problem.

I have the same problem after installing my pulley as well. I have tried everything from changing coils, wires, and plugs still nothing. I am taking it to a dyno shop. They believe by returning the computer it will fix the problem. I will let you know tomorrow how it goes.

The problem it turned out to me was there is a leak in my intake system thats throwing a misfire code to the computer making the car run rich. I thought is was the new pulley causing the problem but it can be an air leak in the system somewhere.

"C", well I know we installed it correctly, and if you read above you will see that some people had to do the reset more than once or twice to get it to settle down. Try a coule of drive cycles like we taked about, but you may want to unhook the battery for about 15 minutes, then reconnect and do all the rests(without starting the car) and then crank it up and then do your AP stuff. I suppose there could be a setting in the AP map doing it........I just don't know too much about the AP and map functions.
Dave
I'll keep searching for awhile and PM you if I find anything. You might want to PM Kane about the PA pulley and the AP map.

Think he said he might have gotten a base map off of you........so I hope that's it?
I looked after in install and there was no wobbling. I know it's on right, alignment pins are good and we didn't mess with the eccentric plate at all........meaning it didn't fall off or move on us. We did the brake tap and all other resets. He called me while on his way home and said he would get the CEL at about 4k rpms.
I want him to check for wobbling since he didn't see it after as he was in the car, but I know it's good. Hopefully loading the map and afew cycles will do it. Been so long since I did my UR pulleys I can't remember if I had any CELs initially??????
Also................he might want to see https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...=pulley+CEL+AP but I'm pretty sure it sounds like you got it.

yep, i'm gonna check in the morning. i'll run through the resets and reflash the map a few times if need be.
i don't think it's a big deal, everything felt fine on the way home even while i was getting pulled over. (53 in a 45 -- wtf?)
no wobbling. lol. you're in the clear. meanwhile, see this.
