If you left a screen in its probably just the ecu getting used to it. As long as you are sure the install was done correctly, you should try resetting the ecu. I disco. the neg term (for several mins.), reconnect, start engine, and then turn steering wheel all the way left and then all the way right.

its a 6 speed. Its aa short ram intake and an oval K&N filter, I left the plastic peice that sits under the stock air box ( should I have taken that out?). And i did install the heat sheild/screen the seperates the filter from the engine. thanks for your help so far

know if it's the first or second version of the k&n intake? the first one had a lot of idle issues, and if that's the one you have, prepare yourself to stall a lot at stop lights.
personally, I view the aftermarket intakes that suck engine bay air as crap...
You'll NEED the bottom box of your air intake in place, otherwise your radiator fan will blow hot air into your intake, and your MAF will go apeshit.

but to be honest you are not goning to make any power with this intake, just noise..
you might chalk this one up to learning and go back to stock or pick another one..

aem / mazspeed
the kn version # 2

i would put the stock one back in till you get a intake that will work...
the filter is not the problem, it is the design of that whole intake...

that would be the best logic. but it depends on what you are trying to do long term..
btw, the stock one is really really good. and you will get better gas mileage and better power with it..
and the car will not stall on your girlfriend.. which is important!!!

depends on what you are trying do do..
if you read my sig. the order from top to bottom is how i would do it if i had to do it over again..
but if you had to do just one for enjoyment. it would be the afe shifter with rp fluid..
second depending on where you live, cooling mod.

i want a little more HP, and and some better sound, but not the 4' civic fart annoying sound. it sucks bc the intake sounds good, but i cant stand the idling. maybe exhaust will do the trick

it's a short THROW shifter. The height isn't the point. The throws are shorter.
if you want power, you'll need to get a FI kit.
if you want a little more power, look into a lightweight flywheel and the rb ecu reflash.
i'm partial to the borla exhaust for sound.

a little hp is all to be had.. i would go with an exhaust.. hymee and borla deeper. greedy in the middle.
mazspeed/corksport higher pitched..
as to the navi.. mazdaparts has the adapter to do dvd and all on the navi screen. they are in the vendor section. not cheap..
as to the short shifter.. just do a search on short shifter...
you will find it..
