Does anyone get aftermarket exhaust on 8 in New York??

Yesterday my friend was stopped by police, and got a ticket.

Police said the law changed a year ago, and it's illegal.

There was no fine but she should change it to stock exhaust within a month.

So, I'm quite worry about this.

(Because I also ordered Greddy SP2 last night)

Does anyone know about this?

 

did you google it? email your state attornrey general? congressman? did the officer say you can only treplace it when it breaks with another OEM? isnt meinehe and midas going to be pissed? did he say the exhaust or the cat?

Damn, if is true then .... Cops going to be REALLY FuXking Busy since do u guys have any idea how many RICEY Civics running around the whole time ....

But I kinda doubt that kind of law exist .... ask your friend for the violation code on the ticket, it should say.

Most Exhaust system does not modify any emission stuff. Its mostly sound thats pretty much about it. (well, except for some. of course)

So .... most people are still OK. as long as your thing have CARB excempt on. You'll be fine. and Cops cant do **** to you (Thats probably one of the reasons so many ricey Civics running all over the city, those **** are annoying as hell)

 

The CAT BACK is excempt as it is only a muffler. It doesn't need to be certified.

Changing the CAT converter is a modification to the exhaust that qualifies for an illegal system.

 

California has been that way for a while. You can do whatever to the catback, just don't mess with your cat.
