AEM/MS Intake just installed... impressions

Hey guys,
I finally got around to installing my AEM cold air system. All l can say is, WOW! Power wise, can't really say l'm noticing very much, but the sound is incredible!

Installation time for me was just over 3 hours, also there were some differences between my car and the one in the installation guide provided by AEM (I don't/didn't have a VFAD??). Still, if you have some common sense about you, it's easy to do.

Anyway, for anyone out there looking for an intake, I'd suggest either of the AEM or MS products.

Cheers.

Does it have a crappy sound at 4k rpm going WOT?

Because I heard one of them and wasn't sure it was the AEM and made a real **** noise at around that point.

someone may have just had it removed already. are you the first owner.

i love mine ... especially at wot. i don't see much 4k, so don't know about that. haven't noticed anything.

it isn't really noticeable until 5.5 or 6 anyway.

You probably have a 4-port engine which didn't have a VFAD.

Hard to say. The sound is obnoxious, but it matches the car in my opinion. If you enjoy the car as the subtle beast it comes as, then this intake probably isn't for you. In saying that, l've noticed the sound doesn't really come in untill about 60% - WOT.

I love the AEM!!

Has anyone seen a water shield for the AEM filter, it's bound to get water in it in the rain?

Never had water issues from the rain, only when the dealer washed my car and aimed the nozzle right at the filter.
Messed with my MAF reading.

Has anyone been able to dress up the engine bay with the ms/aem fitted. I don't really like the "gaps" it leaves...

Good to hear about the product. Any specs ???

I went with silver to match the strut/radiator cooler, agreed red looks hot though!

I went with the polished silver as well, love the way it reacts on throttle. I noticed that the engine stays so much cooler without the stock air box as well.

I should have some info next week. It will replace the air box under tray and have sides and a lid. Totally custom. You will like.

I would be interested in this for my turbo setup
not sure what you mean for the lid tho...I just want to get rid of that plastic tray the stock airbox fits in; something aluminum that covers the hole
