AEM CAI help with mpg?
AEM CAI help with mpg?
just curious, thinking about buying it,but would the AEM CAI help my gas mileage at all, currently im gettin 18mpg mostly highway/interstate driving. Or should i try the revi intake?
Theoretically both should, but each car is different from factory.
And if your just buying for "gas mileage", its not really practical.
If it does give you 1 mpg increase on your car (max. likely), then it will take you roughly 190-220 tanks of gas to recoup the cost of the intake. Thats 50,000 miles, before your intake actually saves you money.

My mpg has gotten worse ever since I put the AEM unit on. I am hoping to contribute it just to the colder weather, since I have more stuff on now (heat, defrost, etc), and the fact that the tune will change with colder air. I've tried babying it, tried revving it hard, tried medium driving, and the mpg is always the same.
I really doubt it's the CAI, because it theoretically shouldn't, but I will find out once the weather warms back up. I'm also going to try and clear the memory in the ECU and start fresh, see what it does.

i've had both the REVi and the AEM CAI and the best mpg i was able to get with the AEM was 25.7mpg, 24.3mpg with the REVi and 23mpg stock. all of these had the REV8 and the wires too if that helps mpg.
