Unorthox sells two types, one that underdrives by 20%(the Ultra SS) and one that doesn't and gets the gains from being much lighter than stock(Ultra SSc). I actually ended up going with 20% underdriven and have seen no ill effects in Florida(it's hot here).

Here is a statement(s) right off the website:

"Our pulley sets provide most of the power gains through weight loss (80-85%). The remaining part of the gains from these pulleys comes from underdriving of all the accessories (15-20%)."

"However, we do not push underdriving for two main reasons. First, it is important to keep charging systems, air conditioning, power steering, and water pumps moving fast enough for every day driving. Second, not much horsepower is gained from extreme underdriving."

"In most applications all of our underdriving is done with the crank pulley, not the accessory pulleys. This is done so maximum weight loss can be achieved at the crank where most of the horsepower gains are found."

Well, when the crank is under driven, so is everything else

the Speedsource racing set (sold only through Mazda Motorsports) only changes the crank and alternator pulley

(and eliminates the AC crank pulley which you can do anyways with any pulley kit, the exception is the OE AC crank pully won't mount to the Speedsource crank pulley)

the point is more isn't necessarily better, don't look now but your n00b skirt is showing

yes, but typically the ideal combination requires underdriving the various items different amounts, hence the multiple pulley change

if you make the crank pulley smaller to underdrive the OE water pump pulley to the optimum then a change in the alternator pulley is required to balance it out relative to the first change. This makes changing all three irrelevant from a performance perspective.
