Nacho's isn't bad. He wants a turbo, so he appears to have a good head on his shoulders.

Cool but can I get an estimation of an average number of mpg with a turbo setup and Cobb sounds cool. Whats nice about Cobb is my buddy(piston tuner) can use that program but I have him reading more about rotary tuning. He has said that aem ems is a very involved program and the other programs he has used to tune looks a lot simpler. Very Interested in the estimated mpg even though I'm sure the rx8 is around 15 to 18 averaged.

You should get better mileage than stock with the Cobb AP, if only slightly. You should run the Cobb in addition to a K&N (or Green, dyno-proven to be slightly better) and a cat replacement mid-pipe. That's supposed to be +20rwhp.

you really need to read more and post less.. right now you are getting about 20 % of your facts correct.

start by reading everything about the rx8 on the racing beat website..

that will give you a very good idea about what hp gains are available on a na rx8.

It's what I read on the Cobb AP thread as posted by MazdaManiac

Yes. "

The gas mileage part was just because you run a leaner AFR with the tune.

LoL Have you read what MM has said about the K&N intake? He doesnt like how it only gets gains by fooling the MAF and making the engine run leaner..... So if you are going to hump his leg read all his posts.

x like eh LoL zOMG Have you like eh, stupid!!!

obviously i was talking about a K&N filter, not intake, because I compared it to a Green...

and swoope, did you think I meant without tuning it? Oh yeah, just stick a Cobb AP on your car, don't use it or anything, its mere presence adds horsepower.

I am so sick of being jumped on for making statements that are either entirely true or backed up by another source and at most are slightly controversial.

Why? Is there a logical reason to this madness? Low post count?

Low post counts don't have anything to do what you know, I have been an automotive technician for 4 years and the fact is that I have yet to play with a rotary but I understand the car is a drivers car and I don't know much about them......What I love to do is drive, if I had the choice to turn a wrench or drive I would honestly drive. I just don't want to make the mistake of getting something I would not be happy with as my next car. Like I have said before I love the RX8's but the gas mileage turns me away, but if I can average around 17 to 19 mpg then thats equivalent to driving any other sports car.

Yeah, I had another account on here that had around 500 but I couldn't remember the password or log in lol.

Anyways does the RX8 average between 17 to 19 mpg or around 220 miles to a fill up?

yeah, 17-19 sounds typical.

I can get 13-16 easily, but I have larger injectors and FI.

I'd say more like 200miles to the tank.

mpg isn't that big of a deal. Let's assume you drive 20,000 miles a year. If you get 20mpg that's 1,000 gallons of gas. If you get 15mpg that's about 1,333 gallons. 333 extra at ~$3 gallon. Each 5mpg is like $1,000 year, which is only $20/week. So for every mpg less you're car has it's only $4/week.

What Kind of gas does the RX8 require in the manual? I would personally only put premium in it but I have seen a few people put plus in their tanks.....is there a difference?

you're stepping into a widely discussed topic, you'd be better off looking at the old threads on premium vs regular.

if you get a Cobb most likely the flashes are going to be tuned for 93.

I believe, but could be wrong, that you can run more ignition timing with 93 over 89.

it is were you live and if you deal with traffic or not..

When i was getting about 200miles to the gallon I noticed my air filter was very very dirty and clogged with things ranging from leaves to medium sized insects...

i'm interested by your use of 87 octane, im sure it's been discussed before, I'm searching right now, if you have any specific links I'd appreciate if you posted them!

not really,

but with the rotary na. less tends to be more.. if you intake was that ganked. also take time to clean the maf..

and reset everything.... and also. the quality of the fuel does matter.. a really good 87 is often better than a cheap 91.

if you really want to dig deep. search intercepter x na. lots of interesting info on that thread. if you cannot find it send me a pm and i will dig it up for you. it seems to be a bit hard to find... nov 05 would be a guess.

search here is not always perfect....
