20.29mpg with REVi! ~2MPG INCREASE

I've had my REVi+air duct on for a few weeks now and I finally tracked my milage. I averaged 20.29! While this doesn't sound great, keep in mind that I'm coming from 17-18mpg. It was mixed driving, some full throttle starts and a touch of hard driving. I'm very pleased with my intake.

I have experienced the same kind of increase in mileage since installing the REVi and RAM kits. I've been seeing between 20 and 21 mpg of which all is in-town driving. Interestingly enough I've seen the mpg increase inspite of more frequent runs to high rpm so that I can enjoy the new intake sound which has resulted from installing the kit. So is the mileage increase the result of the new intake or the change in driving habit? I don't know...not sure I care....

Where do you get the REVI? I searched and couldn't find it although I am sure it is there.

Racing beat (the sponsor of this subforum) makes the intake. You can get it from them or go with mazdaparts. Mazdaparts is a forum vendor here and they have a nice price if you become gold.

Most people on this site will tell you to buy the racing beat REVi, there are a few people who wont. I personally have it and I like it, I too have been getting over 21 MPG since I installed it. There are a few places that sell it. Check these stores out

100% in-town driving under 40 mph = ****-poor-mpg!
I've been fighting with my Strealerships Service Dept for months and just sent a
bitch letter to the President and CEO of Mazda North America Operations "JAMES O'SULLIVAN ".
I sent it in an Office envelope (medical) and marked it "confidential", I hope he'll help me!

I got just over 13 (all city) with my first tank but I am hoping for about 15-16 city wen the motor breaks in. Maybe with the Revi, I can achieve that 18 on the epa sticker. Will it void the warranty? Can it be chipped or remapped to improve mpg w/o ruining the almost linear power curve?

I was getting between 14-15 mpg pretty consistantly for the first 10,000 miles. I did get 19.8 mpg on all highway once. Then the motor broke in and I got the R flash. My next tank was all on track at Watkins Glen, and I got 6 mpg :D
However, I picked up ~3 mpg on normal driving upon break-in and R-flash, as well as the hotter spark plugs. Since then, I've gotten the B&B race pipe in place of my cat and I think I picked up another 2 mpg or so! This is getting to be similar to a big SUV with rather GOOD fuel economy! :D

Uh...huh?

I'm extremely suspicious. I'm SURE there's no mischief here, but the sponsor of the forum manufactures a product, several random people pop up and claim a 10+% increase in fuel economy from a simple intake replacement, and provide all the links and info on where to get your insta-fix right now.

Maybe all is at it seems, maybe it isn't....I'm just saying....

I've had my RX for a year and a half and my driving pattern is exactly the same now as then. Awful stop and go on I-66 in Northern VA. I consistently got 16.5-17 mpg since I've had my car. I put in the Revi and duct a month ago and the last 3 tanks were 19, 17.9, and 18.3. So I'm 100% convinced that it is helping. Funny thing is I wasn't really looking for mpg improvement. Just a few extra hp and nice sound. So I'm quite suprised and happy with the results.

I got 8 MPG with my REVi and Ram Air Duct...

Of course that was after 129 miles Tuesday at Watkins Glen :D :D :D

Seriously, can't say that either impacted MPG for sure. I think I saw an improvement with the REVi since I have hit higher MPG on the highway with it than I ever have before. Haven't really seen any impact from the RAM Air Duct - beyond a mellowing of the sound of the REVi alone.
