South Charlotte Mazda dealership - BEWARE!!

Over the weekend I accidently flooded the motor on my 04 RX8, A quick call to Mazda roadside assistance and they came out the next morning to tow my car for free . They towed it to the nearest dealership which happened to be the South Charlotte Mazda on South Blvd. Now, I had done a bit of research and was vaguely familiar with the extended warranty on my car and the TSB's pertaining ot hard/long starts and the issues with flooding. When I spoke with the service advisor on the phone she said that the TSB's were only valid on cars with under 50k miles, and that my car was out of warranty, and the extended 8 year 100k mile warranty only pertained to seals and vertain parts of the vehicle, not to the flooding issue. I stated that I did not feel that was correct, and she invited me to come and read her copy of the TSB, which I declined as I had already read it.

A quick call to mazda customer service, they searched my VIN, put in a brief call to the dealership and resolved the issue. Customer service told me that they showed the dealership exactly where the TSB stated that the service needs to be performed and they cleared up the matter with the warranty. They assured me that all work would be performed within the day. I placed a follow up call to the dealership to make sure they would be replacing the starter, the coils, the plugs, and possibly the battery as the TSB states. The service advisor told me that there were two different TSB's issued and that the one concerning the starter, coils and battery had already been performed by the previous owner, and that they would be deflooding the engine and replacing the plugs. I requested the paperwork showing the previous work was performed be printed for my records when I come pick up the car, and I also wanted to see the old plugs (so I could make sure they actually changed them).

It was like pulling teeth, but hopefully they get it all done for me.

Cliffs: I pwned the dealership, went above their heads and got my warranty work certified by Mazda corporate.

Why did you get your car towed to the dealer? Could of just called me and I would come deflood your car for free...It's not hard.

But yeah, Montgomery Mazda on Independence is usually the place to go in Charlotte.

Well next time I will have to give you a call

We were literally in the middle of moving when it happened... I had moved the car to load up the moving truck, and wasnt thinking about the consequences of not warming up the motor... I didnt find out it was flooded until 10pm that night and was tired and irritable as hell. I got in my girlfriends car, and as soon as she started asking questions I had to tell her that talking to me was not a good idea at the time .

I probably could have pulled the plugs and deflooded it myself if I had the time, but I have been pretty busy. And I think it was due for new plugs anyways, so free plugs FTW . I suppose next time I will be going to Montgomery Mazda, if MRA will allow it to be towed there.

Well yeah new plugs is always a good thing. Beats paying 75 bucks for them. Glad everything worked out ok for you.
