For Sale: Mazsport dual-resonated midpipe (Local Pickup - Atlanta area)

Sold

For Sale: Mazsport dual-resonated midpipe with approximately 50-60 miles of use on it. Reason for selling it is that is sits too low on my '06 MT with H-Tech springs (1.0" drop in front, .3" drop in the rear). There is one very small scrape on the front silencer which is shown in one of the attached pics. I'm posting it in the SE Forum first as I would prefer local pickup. If there is no interest I will probably end up trying to sell it shipped.

I'd like to state right off that this is a great piece, and I wish I didn't feel it necessary to sell. However I work in the city of Atlanta and I'm fairly certain that at some point I will damage it going over potholes or even just pulling into where I work. The noise level of this piece with my Racing Beat Rev8 exhaust is significantly quieter than the RP Supercat/Rev8 combo I had before (and have now). I was also able to notice a slight performance increase as well at higher RPMs...unverified with a dyno, sorry. Turbo owners would probably notice an even larger performance jump.

I did speak with Scott at Mazsport about the fitment, and he advised they had an '06 Shinka at the shop with the unit which didn't have the same clearance issues. He also graciously offered to try and resolve the issue in various ways; including modifying the transition from the front to rear silencer, as well as completely removing the rear one. I have a feeling however that there will be another product available down the road that may fit my needs just as well if not better.

The location for local pickup is about a mile from the intersection of Austell Road and South Cobb in Marietta. Price is $400. PM me if you want to swing by and check it out in person. Pics to follow.

I'd have to resize the pictures I took in order to post them here, so I instead they can be found at http://pcoppinger.home.mindspring.com/

*8016 through *8023 show the midpipe fitted on the car, and how there wasn't much room for it to be raised. Maybe 1/2" to 3/4" tops.

*8025 and *8026 are of the RP Supercat installed for comparison purposes.

*8028 and *8031 are of the midpipe after it was removed from the car.

Sorry to sort of Hijack this thread but by any chance did you have to modify it in any way to install the midpipe? What kinda of exhaust do you have on your car?

I have the Racing Beat catback on my car. No modifications where necessary to the midpipe. It bolted right on and seemed to be a great fit in the front (to the stock header) and in the rear (to the RB exhaust). It just instantly became the lowest sitting piece on the bottom of the car. And unfortunately, there isn't much room between the top of the midpipe and the underbody of the car to go back and adjust it any.

WOW. I took a stab at putting mine on but couldn't get the bolts off. I also have a Racing beat exhaust. I just went in this morning to put them both on. I got a call saying that they needed to change the flange on one end and that they had to extend the O2 sensor...Now I'm starting to get a little pissed about this.

If you're talking about the bolts at the front of the stock cat/midpipe, then yea...they are a major PITA to get off. First you have to know that they are part of the midpipe itself, and that you can only remove the nuts from the engine side of the cat. And even then you need to saturate them with something like PB Blaster...and even then you may need an airgun . It took me all of the above to get it off my '06 after only 200 miles on the car. That was back when I installed the RP Supercat.

As far as the O2 sensor goes, I had to unclip it from the stock mount and route it under a wire running to the tranny to get it in the front O2 bung on the Mazsport piece. Sorry for the confusion if that's what you meant by modifying it.

I litterally just got off the phone with Scott for Mazsport. He's totally surprized that they had to modify it. He explained the sensor part to which I'm sure they didn't do. Explains why they said they had to lengthen it. But as for the flange part at the end. Thats really got me concered. I'm actually going to be taking off work early to go down there to have a look. Otherwise I can't get down there till after they close. My mother was going to pick it up for me. But I'm so pissed right now I'm ditching work and going down myself. I swear to God if they messed up my **** its going to hit the fan.

I seriously can't believe how pissed off I am right now. Scott might be getting more money after all from me. Just a matter of who's going to be paying for it.

If you guys could wait a bit, I might be getting a shopped called No Limit Ind. to make these mid pipes. Mazsport pieces are nothing but RB resonators and few pipes welded together.... and I'm also worried that the piece will hit the ground..

No limit does awesome job as they did a custom 3 piece for my 1973 RX-2.

no they are not RB resonators. IDK who told you that but thats not true.

Idk why people are having issues with this. I have my 8 slammed on HKS hipermaxx's and havent had a single issue with scraping.

I remember Mazsport themselves telling us that when this first came out. I would see this as a positive thing. Not as being a problem.

The resonators on the midpipe are longer, but not as wide as what's on the Racing Beat Rev8 exhaust. The construction of the resonator is also a different style. Specifically the welds on the ends of the can. I can't say if that means it isn't made by Racing Beat though. All I can say is that the quality of the midpipe is definitely top notch, it just didn't fit that great on my car.

Since I haven't had any takers yet locally, I'll be moving this to the general For Sale section in the next day or so.

Are you positive about this?? Its NOT RB resonators?? If that's true, I would think its less of a quality than i thought. Racing beat resonators are by far the top rotary resonators out there.. knowing its some other company (unless they are getting it from RB's source), I would think Mazsport version is worse.
