The saga continues...

Hey guys and gals,
Here is the latest...Well after bringing the car back twice for tranny downshifting and noises and lights, I avoided driving it at all this weekend. Tuesday morning after about 30 miles into my commute, doing 65-70 mph on the Turnpike, the car downshifts to 3rd, then right into 1st. The wheels locked up and sent me skidding down the road. Luckily I was going straight and not turning at the time. The truck behind me slowed right down and I was lucky enough to have a hole to get over and off the road after the car slowed down to @30mph. Talk about scary. I dont want to think about what would of happened if my wife was driving or the guy behind wasnt paying attention.
So the car was towed to the dealer and after two days, they found a faulty pin in a connector for a wire b/t tranny and ECM. They kept the car an extra day and put @80 miles on the odometer to be confident it wouldnt fail again. She got me home last night and back to work this morning. All seems ok but I am hearing some strange noise Ive never noticed before during cruising speed. Needless to say I am going the speed limit and staying in the far right lane in case I have to pull off. My only real concern now is that the tranny itself has suffered some damage with all this electrical crap. Im considering dropping the tranny pan and changing tranny fluid to see if I have any metal shavings or anything in there. Anyways, thanks everyone for your support through these rough times. There is still a chance that Ill fall in love again if she becomes reliable. It is a beautiful car and alot of fun to drive (if it doesnt try to kill you!)

Well....I can say this.........if your tranny downshifted into 1st at anything above 30 mph, you're lucky to have a tranny at all (and an engine for that matter). I'm supprised it didn't puke its guts out all over the turnpike. Sounds to me like they should've replaced it a loooong time ago.

Glad to see you're ok though. Sounds like you may need a drink this weekend.

Thanks bud. As for the drink, this car has made me an alcoholic! LOL! Remeber my 8 is an AT and redline in first is @ 45-50mph. Im guessing thats why it didnt fall out of the car. To qoute my father, "It's a machine...they can fix it." Im hoping the problems are starting to subside. Weve got to meet up soon. Ill take you for a ride...if youve got the guts! :D
