The idea was brought up by a member of the Rx-7 boards and recently in a conversation I had. I've been given the opportunity to start/maintain a North Miami/Broward rotary club.

A couple of reasons for having this club was:

1) The most organized club currently in south Florida is DSR (Down South Rotary) which really caters to South Miami.

2) There isn't an organized presence for people whom live in the North Miami/Broward/Palm Beach areas.

3) I was presented with the opportunity to pick up a club that had already been established, including a web site and domain.

This wouldn't be an any way shape or form "splitting" people into one group or another, simply giving more people options. I attend DSR and other rotary events and would consider this just a way to cover a very large South Florida. So what are your thoughts?

 

I think it is a great idea!

I live in West Palm. So i am stuck in the the middle. Don't mind driving 30 miles for a event but 60-90 miles is a little far! It seems like most clubs are in Miami or Orlando!

 

I am all for it since i also live up North...
it seems that the DSR crew is made up of Drama queens and its all about RX7's. Oddly enough their crew is called Down South Rotary so where is the love for us Northerners ?

I say Phukem... and lets just have a club up here that can be about broward,palm beach counties.. Kendall is a long drive

If someone has given you the ok to run a former club with website and domain name I would say go for it and i wouldnt mind running for officer ...

I'm in...when do we start... I liked that club that was there before SO FLA RX CLUB. The guy who started that one had the right idea but i guess he just got caught up with some drama queens down south.... lol

 

I think this would be a great idea...keep me up to date. Just make sure to leave whatever drama between SO FLA RX CLUB and DSR out of this chapter if starting this chapter brings the BS from the above mention clubs there just is no point however if everyone( all sectors of these clubs) can work together for whats best for everyone... lets bring it to those piston driven queens..


Maybe we can do something for HIN in December..

i think all of us should meet every monday on us1 and 104 behinf fudrokers, everytime i go there i never see rotaries but we should go all as a group, and park have someone gone there? its a lot of fun, there are subarus on one side, nissans on the other, and about 10:30 pm people starts drifting in the back. if someone is interested in going as a caravan let me know, i go every monday. 786 286 3932 my name is stalin.

oh **** man i used to live in davie 441 and griffin rd stealth, now i live in flamingo and pines blvd, right across pembroke lakes mall, i used to go to towers a lot but none other 8 was outthere so i stopped going, we should all go tomorrow....yo VOC lets meet up tomorrow at towers....what do you think?

 

It's kinda last minute, why not make a sign up sheet for next friday? I'm 50/50 if I could attend, I have a friend coming in from out of town.

 

Oh, and I decided to go ahead and start the club. More info will be available once I get all the website info and what not.

They start giving people the boot close to 10 so I'd say 7-7:30.

Reminder:
Towers Plaza now charges $2 (i think it's still 2) to park in the "car show". This is where we would be parking, so bring your singles.

I'm on 61st just off davie rd...I have the black 8 with the red RE emblems...I'm down to go to Towers but i'm not gonna spring 2.00 for parking...not only cuz i'm cheap but its the first night and i wanna see if people show up and make sure we can all park in the same area..

Getting some good replies from the 7 community, I think the broward guys there would like a north club too.

I was thinking of a couple of places/things to do as meets. Some places I thought of were:
Boomers - I95 & Sterling
Muvico Paradise - I75 & Sheridan
Muvico Palace - I95 & Glades
Boomers - @Boca
Towers Plaza - 595 $ University
Aventura Mall - US1 and Ives Dairy

Anyone else have some suggestions?

 

i think deerfield beach would be nice too.....the view is beautifull and last time i was there i saw 2 rx8 with mazdaspeed body kits

Ive never been to towers... I might be down to go. Anyone in Kendall going want to caravan?

 

that would be very nice of u kev, if u come up here, i want to see what the hood of urs looks like in real life...hope u make it, and towers its a pretty nice spot for all kinda cars, they even have skylines, silvias and supras right hand drive...and the parking lot is HUGE, plus the american muscle have their own section....u should come....

 

Normal parking spot is on the other side of the muscle cars...like 3 lanes behind Taco Bell.

 

Ill see what I can do to make it there... maybe get a few friends to ride up with me so Im not all lonely.

I went to towers last night...I paid the frigign 2.oo for the parking it was ok..but I only saw a total of 3 8's there. I got there around 7 left about 8. There were quiet a few rotaries but mainly 7's which are still nice cars..but I was expecting to see more 8's show up since we all want a broward representation....as for a recommendation for a place to meet..towers is good on a firday..especially if there is a good turn out as for a club meet I think Checkers on the corner of University and Commercial is a good spot..alot of parking and well food..I also think by ft lauderdale beach would be awesome..just a full line of 8's ..but whateva...
