Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta (Sept 29 - Oct 2)
Allright everyone. We had a blast at Barber for the Grand Am race. Now the Petit Lemans is in out backyard. I have never been, and have been told that it is really awesome. So lets get our quickly growing Georgia RX-8 group together, and go to the races again.
When: September 29- October 2, 2005
Where: Road Atlanta in Braselton
Why: Becuase it will be a lot of fun!
The Main page:

The schedule of events for the weekend is not set yet. Road Atlanta's web page says that the event is September 28 - October 1, so I am not sure which is correct.
So who is in for this one? Add your name to the list!

I went there for the one in April. It was great. Even better because I was there as a guest of one of the sponsors who is also a GT3 driver.
Bring sunscreen and earplugs. You will be able to tell the rotary powered LMP2 without even looking. Loudest car on the track.
Also be sure to read about the electronic car identification. I didn't until the end of the day. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cars in each class have led's on the side.

I am not sure if they set up like Braber did, or if oyu find your spot and camp out.
I believe the car clubs are in the area just past the bridge and before you turn right to go to the back side of the track. The Corvettes usually take the left hand side and there is a ton of vetts. I've seen other clubs around the area on both sides of the road surrounding the vendor’s area.
I'm affraid the Mazda will not be able to compete with the new Porsche P2 from Penske. I suspect it will even be pushing some of the P1's into turn 6. Now, it's hard for the Mazda not to make it to the podium simply because there are so few cars. But when the Porsche is in the picture, you will not be seeing our beautiful Blue & Yellow #8 Courage on the podium much. The Penske Porsche will start rulling the roost!
I haven't looked at the schedule but last time in April the american Lemans was run on Sunday but the Mazda Star series was run on Saturday. there were also a bunch of club races on saturday. I had the pass for the whole weekend but couldn't make Saturday. Check the schedule, it might be worth going both days.
Hell yea... I am going to make every effort to go! I'll probably be able to come down for 1 day only (Saturday?) but it'll be a blast I'm sure.
I'll bring a few lenses for the camera as well, and maybe the camcorder to make some MiniDV movies of the races?

The petit Le Mans does not run on Sunday. It will finish up saturday in the evening around 9:00 to 10:00 PM. The evening is the really cool part of the race. When the cars are coming down the hill approaching turn 10a, the brakes are Glowing hot.

I am with you Don! The good news is that ALMS has given the car a larger restrictor at the air inlet and a bit of a weight break. The only thing that is gonna be a ginormous problem is outspending Penske. Hopefully they won't be as strong as I assume they will.....................
There is a little blurb on it at www.rotarynews.com.
Sorry I'll miss this one. I am taking the week off to go to Sevenstock.
Oh my! Check out the Porsche video on this link:

Are you guys planning on going on all of the days or just Saturday? I can make it on Friday and Saturday, but Wednesday and Thursday are impossible for me. (Don't hate me, but I'm going to be rooting for the new Corvette...)
Sounds like a general consensus on Saturday only, which is fine, its going to be a drive for me (not that I mind...) But if some of you want to go up on Friday don't let me stop you, but I think its going to be a Saturday thing for me as well.
Hi Guys,
I'll be there Saturday for sure and working on Friday too!
I hear the infield will have tons of booths and displays, so bring your wallets.
What could be better, fast cars, racing and shopping!!!
