New, Smyrna GA
Just thought I'd drop in and say Hi. Got my 8 a few weeks ago. And I'm loving it. Since then I've actually already and installed the mazdaspeed CAI, which I'm loving as well.
Not really sure what kind of community there is here in GA, but I did check out the sticky for the Garx8club already a bit. I'd assume the community here in GA is pretty good, i mean there are at least 3 other 8's where I work (autotrader.com)
Anyways, have a good one.

Welcome to the club! I'm not up in Atlanta too much unless my girlfriend's home. If you're ever near Macon, hit me up. Oldragger on these forums is in Macon as well. I have the same intake and everyone compliments me on it. The MS dual exhaust sounds sweet with it too. Happy revving!

Hey Marshall, welcome! Come see us at Mazcare in Marietta as I think we are close to your office unless the Trader has moved. I would like to see the M/S intake on your car.

Haha yeah, when I was looking for one I was totally sold on black, but when I saw the WB in person it really changed my mind. Especially with the stock apperance package.
Probably gonna order exhaust next, and then sway bars. I'd like new tires, but the ones i have on there now are pretty new, so I'll hold off.

Congrats on the car. Enjoy! Also be sure to meet up with the other RX8 crazies here. Many of us are going to the Porsche 250 at Barber on Saturday July 29. Check out the sticky thread in this part of the forum.

Uhmm... yea - I'm in Marietta just south of Barrett Pkwy- and I'm around a lot north of Atlanta. I know a few people in IT (or at least I did) over there at AutoTrader... don't remember names though...
Welcome to the cult - it's an addiction, the car I mean.

I would actually love to go, however I can't as I've already got plans that weekend. Oh well.

Hey Marshall,
I see you are in smyrna...where abouts? I'm also in Smyrna, just off of S Cobb inbtwn Windy hill and Concord.
The Red RX8 at work is Derwankel's. Like L8Apex mentioned, i'm in the Black one (that's been very dirty for the past 2 weeks ). And the 3rd is a Silver 8, but I don't know who's it is. Derwankel and I have both tried getting in touch with them and they seem to be less than interested, so we just let them be.

I live just inside 285 off of Atlanta road. Off of north church lane, if you know where that is.
I've actually talked to derwankel some over on the RX-8 Web forums already. I'm interested in going to some of the events, but was busy for the last one, and will be busy on the day of the next one as well.

well i just had to take my car in for service to jim ellis. here's to hoping it's ok.
The check engine light came on and was flashing, then solid, then flashing again. Switching back and forth randomly, sometimes as quickly as 5-10 seconds. I'd say it spent more time flashing than not.
I also would lose lots of power from time to time where the throttle would do no good no matter how hard I pressed it. Then randomly it would kick back in to full power. I also had it die on me when I shifted from 6th to N to slow down for a turn coming off the interstate. I've done a lot of searching and it seems like probably a misfire issue, which could be as simple as spark plugs/coil pack or something much different. I also had smoke coming from underneath the car in front of the rear wheels.
I'm hoping that the misfire issue didn't cause it to run really rich and kill my cat and add to the the problem. It's still under warranty but I'm gonna bet that they dont' have a cat laying around whereas they'd probably have a couple plugs around.
For those of you who live in the altanta area, how is jim ellis (chamblee) in terms of service? This seems like it could be a number of different things, are they likely to get it right?
Guess it's time to go get a new obd2 reader, cause my current one doesn't work with the 8
