Hello guys my name is Jahmari from Boston, Mass but I live in Huntsville, AL. I am 19 and I got tricked out into this car. I bought it no warranty and the engine died on me in 2 weeks. Took it to mazda and they told me I need a whole new engine because it is failing the compression test. Plus the guy who sold it to me from the dealership isn't trying to help me and on top of that I already put in 5gs on it and I owe him $2,200... So I'm all kinds of messed up right now.
I need to know what engine replacement I can get for cheap or what other engine I can get installed in it. Its a 2004 Mazda Rx8 blue semi-automatic. Please help me because I need a game plan and I've been stressing out. Plus I tried to sue but my car doesn't fall under the Tennessee lemon law nor federal lemon-law.

I recently attained an RX-8 in spring of this year.
I reside in West End, Nashville and all my car enthusiast friends drive American muscle cars or German cars with higher torque and horsepower and I'd love to connect with some rotary owners.
Is anyone nearby me?
Most of us are south of Nashville In the Brentwood, Antioch, Smyrna and Murfreesboro area. We haven't had a real meet up in probably a year.... Used to be a monthly thing. most of the local rotary guys aren't keen on the 8's even though most own or have owned them in the past.
There's been talk about putting together a meet soon, but it hasn't been discussed much.
Most of us got to the deals gap rotary rally every year. We're one of the biggest groups there.

Thank you for the response; that's a pity. I see a charcoal grey one in 12 South near Belmont Univ. all the time - (give me a shout if you are reading this!) I can see why the rotary guys won't be keen on 8s, I am an Asian girl and I think it's a perfect girl car :D

We can always get together on our own... We've done a couple RX8 meet ups in the past. I was out at a huge meet with about 400 cars last night. 2 other RX8's showed up.
I'll PM you my info so we can keep in touch better.

The locals haven't met up in forever. Most of the older guys don't tend to meet up with the younger 8 owners. I was never successful in bringing the two groups together.

There's a dealer in Brentwood, and DT Nashville. Most of us do our own work. There's a few locals who can rebuild the motors, or if you can get the motor out, Kevin Landers in Knoxville can rebuild them with a warranty. Rotary Resurrection

I am the Maintenance Supervisor at Eleven North Apartments in the Gulch and I haven't seen any other 8's in the DT area and I have only seen 2 around other areas..
Hope you dont mind me asking but what area do you live in?? Man I would love to meet up with another or others 8 enthusiasts...lol

I work right off West End, near Stoney River. I think I may have seen you speeding down west end the other day at lunch time?? I heard a loud rotary exhaust and saw a dark 8 going by. I drive a white one.

Mine is red. I took mine to the dealer and supposedly they have a rotary "expert" that works there(Antioch). He wasn't there when I took mine in. I went on a Sat and they tell me he works M-F. Where abouts in Maddside do you live??

I'm off Neelys Bend. Yeah, a "rotary specialist" at Mazda downtown told me I needed a new engine, new cat, new coils/wires...wanted to charge me almost 4k plus labor, when all I needed was the PCM flashed with the latest update. (it was running rough/dying while idling & losing power in the summer/high humidity) I'm glad this forum is here so I could do the research myself...otherwise I could have fallen for his BS.

I live at Graycroft Apartments. We gotta hook up sometime. I haven't seen a white 8 at all let alone in Madison area. Prolly the same "rotary specialist" they were telling me about..lol. What year is yours?

Taillights are just 2 nuts and a clip if I remember. Just make sure to seal them properly so you don't get fish bowels.
I'll probably be out that way Saturday night, but not exactly sure I'll have time to stop by.
You guys should look into the Deals Gap Rotary Rally... a lot of the locals go.
