I will shortly be starting to put images up. I will start with the "RX8 Group". It's just candid shots standing around the paddock area. I will be furnishing each of you a CD with all of the images on it. This is my gift to you. Everyone else wanting copies of images will have to pay per photo. So, don't let the note on the left hand side spook you. If you drive an RX8 and you participated in our group, you get the goods.
Having some serious withdraws guys. At least ya'll have an 8 to sit in, grip, tinker, polish, and drive. There isn't even a dealership around here. I have spotted a red 8 in town and will be kindly introducing myself as I accidentally bumb into this lucky person.
If ya'll can't tell by now Don is in hog heaven with this site and production development. This is what he lives for and is really good at it. Site looking great Don!

Sorry to be so late in posting, guys. I just got my computer back from my tech and all is well with it. Since I am now living alone I had to bust out the old HP I got from Ford a few years ago. Anyway, the drive back went as well as the drive down and, like everyone else, I have been going over the playbacks in my head. I now try to use every corner as an opportunity to practice my entry/exit skills and coordination.
Of course, the hospitality was above that I have ever experienced and I don't think I paid for anything except gas and a beverage, or two, while I was there. OD and Trace pretty much covered me and that was cool. If you guys come to Detroit I will show y'all an equally good time.
How strange was it that we got Trace's flywheel removed only to find that, on this particular occasion, the rare moment that Racing Beat made a mistake had to be this one? When you're laying under a car with parts and tools all around and darkness only moments away the last thing you want to think is that one of your favorite companies screwed up. Unfortunately, the truth had to be confronted. Mazcare to the rescue!! Trace ended up with an ACT Prolite on his car and the difference was immediate. Further good news; no "leftover" parts and I still have all my tools.
When I got around to giving rides in my car using the nitrous it was cool to see the reactions from OD, legokcen, rxeighter, and silvereight. These days I am used to the nitrous shot so to see the giddiness of teenage girls these guys exhibited after going for a ride was a reminder of my own initial reactions. Now, when I am doing a pass I only focus on the tach, my shifting, and and keeping the car straight. I don't even feel the acceleration anymore.
I have also discovered that using 27" tall tires versus the stock 26" has a detrimental effect on overall acceleration rates. I have better traction off the line but my mid-range acceleration was dampened. Slower corner exiting was a bit of a problem. The overall effect wasn't/isn't worth it so I will be switching to 245/40-18's as soon as the weather breaks back here in MI. I'll use the 255/45's from early Winter to late Spring then switch to some KD's or similar. It should be noted, however, that the KD series has sidewall stiffeners so I didn't have any trouble with sidewall compression while at R/A with the 255/45's.

p.s. I forgot to ask; who is that ******** the red 2005 Mustang on the NASA/ HPDE website?

Don...thanks for the avatars and all the great work you're doing! Hope you recover quickly Gordon. I suffer from carpal tunnel too (not as bad as your's sounds), but never had the nerve to go under the knife. Tell your Dad Hi!
Glad you made it back to Detroit OK Charles. It was good to meet you and your car!

Charles: Welcome back. Thank you for attending "THE" Event! I enjoyed meeting you, riding in your hyper-stoked RX8 and watching you run. Thanks for coming down and letting us share the South with you. You are always welcome down here anytime you like.
