anyone have brake ducting on yet? I am hoping to have completed mine in time--things are really busy around here.
I wonder if Charlie is coming by and are we planning a meet up at charlies Friday evening?

We are pretty well represented this time:

HPDE 1: 1
HPDE 2: 2
HPDE 3: 3

Looks like the group is advancing. I'd like to see a few more on track. Will TA move to 4 anytime soon?

I am running Azenis RT615. I will go back to Rs when I wear these out as they are definitely noticeably slower than an R compound.
With the event almost full, I plan on being at Road Atlanta on Friday late afternoon to get teched and stake out a place in the paddock. Let us have a get get together at the track after tech. We'll laugh. cry and experience the full range of human emotions.
I have no brake ducting. I don't think I need it. At CMP which is more brutal on brakes than RA, i had zero brake fade issues. I will be on brand new pads though.

That was the reason I suggested we just do our hanging out at the track and not worry about the Mazcare pre-track festivities.

Brat Night and Ass Night huh? As long as this is not a Broke Back HPDE event and instead we can all go to hell with Lego because of one said HPDE chick sans dad, then I am comfortable with that. Maybe Doily Girl and Fake Ass Strakes would like to sample some brats and ass???

Whats going on everyone. Just an fyi, I am selling my stock wheels with v710's on them. I would put it in the for sale section, but I really don't want to ship them. The wheels all have some slight blemishes on them, and the tires I bought in Feb. and have 6 or so autox's on them. The tires are probly have a little more than half of the tread left on them. PM me for some pics if any of you are interested. I'm asking $650 for everything. Its a low price because I need to get rid of them asap.

Don't worry, I still have the rx8 for the track, but I have something else for autox. Thanks for the time and be safe at RA.

olddragger 07-27-2006 09:39 AM

Phlash,
If there is room at the track ho hotel, guess I can bring a bag and a quart size bottle of anti snore throat spray for those that need it. If there is no room or senior citizen discount then I'll get a room, but i may want to leave my tires etc overnight with yall.
Yall skid padding?

I was just waiting to hear from you. You are the final tenant. The cost for two nights of fun, food, and memories you'll have forever is at least $20.00 toward the gas fee. If you have a favorite pillow, bring it.....I have blankets and the likes. We are putting list together of food items to bring. I am supplying Brats for Friday night and ass for Saturday night as well as rita's.

Lodge list:

I may be wrong but from what I've been able to tell, they are closing up that area now in the evening and promoting off limits in the classroom. At least they did at The Panoz event a couple weekends ago. At the WERA race a security guy was waiting at the gate to close it off within 15 min. of the last race on Saturday. :dunno:

Hey guys, here is some red meat for y’all to look forward to at Road Atlanta. Road Atlanta is probably my favorite track and I've got tons of video from there. Here are a couple of clips.

This clip is when I had a friend of mine in the car with me who had never been on track before. He is giggling and has his mobile phone taking pictures. During this clip we get our ass handed to us by a Supra driven by a Grand Am driver. This Supra had over 600 hp and he knew how to use every damn one of them:

Hidey Ho Silver!

Here's a clip of just a regular lap with nothing going on. This one should be used if you're interested in the line and no drama whatsoever.

Plain Vanilla

Enjoy! Now get ready for Road Atlanta! :ylsuper:

Good God.....that Supra was fast as hell! As usual, your driving was great, but I couldn't help but laugh my ass off at the guy with you........great videos...Thanks again!

BPK, what do you think it will take for TTA at Road Atlanta? I don't think I can go much under a 1:38, without more ponies....

SilverEIGHT 07-28-2006 09:32 PM

Woooohhhhh where' d the road go? HAAA HAA! Yiiiiiiihaaaaaahaaaa..... oh.. my.. god .... click!

PRICELESS! That was just too funny! Even my wife was laughing her ass off!

Now, The power you had coming out of turn 7 was awesome and even then that Supra powered by you. Amazing!

Great vid BPK.

I will wait till I get back from Barber and study the other one. Thanks for sharing.

STF, 1:38 will take TTU. That Supra, with 600 HP+ and a professional driver, did 1:36+ on Saturday, and after turning the boost up on Sunday, did a 1:33+.

If history is any indication, I would suspect a 1:40 or 1:41 or better will take TTA, depending on track conditions.

S8, yea that guy with me was a hoot.

Here's a link to some video of that Supra owner. One is from that weekend at Road Atlanta, another is from Watkins Glen. He's a world class driver.

BPK, I thought there were some folks in TTA running 1:40's? I went a best 1:42, after looking at the tape, but with the new mods, and the better tires, I am hoping for 3s improvement. However, I wasn't taking heat into consideration. I am not sure the track will be at the best condition for those times.

Oh, I thought you were asking if 1:38 would take TTA. It would very easily take TTA. I won the TTA in March with a 1:40.xxx, but the track conditions were pretty good then and a lot better than they'll be in August, and there were a lot of fast cars there. I'd guess a good solid 1:41 will probably get the job done in the hot August weather.

I don't think I can get below 1:42. I was there a couple of weeks ago and couldn't get the ol' mojo working.

Stop&TurnFreak 07-30-2006 01:14 AM

I think you will easily get the ole mojo going. Besides, I won't be in the Evo, I just sold it......

M3 anyone? Stock, for now :(

Man, I bet that was painful. Those are fabulous track cars. For the price, they're the best performance buy out there, but I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know.

Are you serious??? If the 2 day test drive is at RA, then I'm not too sure about that. I would hate to have to try and sell them with 2 days of track on them. Lego, how much wear did you see on your 710's at Roebling?

Stop&TurnFreak 07-30-2006 05:35 PM

Yeah, I am going to miss the car. He is supposed to pick up the car Monday, but I am looking forward to another new project. The BMW will make a great car, and I a siked about doing a new project. I will, eventually, be adding a little boost to the car, letting the guys from AMS tune it, however, for now, it will be a daily for the wife.

olddragger 07-31-2006 07:05 PM

dont forget to take the Kroger sacks out before you put it on the track!

They wore great at Roebling. Very even, I was pleasantly surprised. At CMP, after the 6 sessions in one day, the tires got a bit overheated. They have good tread on them though. I'll bring them to RA. The RX-7 won't be ready, at least not to the point that I feel comfortable with it. 13 x 7 racing wheels on the way for it though. So... I'll be driving the RX-8 in HPDE3.

TrackAddict 08-01-2006 07:41 AM

Lego - it'll be great to have you on track with me, KurtBob, and OD! Isn't it cool how we all started tracking a couple years ago and we have all advanced up through the HPDE ranks? I am excited now!

I'm taking my son out this Sunday for his 2nd pre NASA lesson. This time we will concentrate on final lap cool down because it will be more important this time than ever before because of the heat and two drivers for one car. When I told him he could not use the brakes on the cool down lap... there was dead silence on the other end of the telephone. The he said... "Well, what am I supposed to do in turn 12?" We also will be watching and analyzing the Panoz training vid with a turn-by-turn breakdown of the track. Kevin's getting pumped and so am I.
