Loxely, AL Carshow pics

Robertsdale Athletic Association 1st Annual Car show. It was either in Loxely/Robertsdale, not sure which I think they're the same city.

A good mix of cars, I'll have a couple more pics to post. Boring might also have some pics. Both his and my 8 came in with top 50 trophies. And my wife finally convinced me to get on the "other side" of the camera.

I dunno, they weren't calling out categories. The only "special" trophies were best in show, best paint, best engine, best antique. I think if there had been more late model cars (non vette/ford/chevy) there I probably would not have gotten anything.

We were both in the open class, there were only four/five in that class, including a beautiful custom bike. That thing had 25 layers of paint with sweet ghost flames. I think he got best paint or something. I'm not partial to bikes, but it was an amazing paint job.

I think the main categories were:

Chevy
Ford
Corvette (pre '86)
Corvette (post '86)
Modified - like serious HP/body upgrades (a racing viper was in this class)
Open

There might have been a couple more categories. But, I had my head in/around my car doing touch-ups and fighting the pollen that was coating it all day. Pollen, bleh.

Thumbs up

I don't care what all the flamethrowers say about chrome, I like those wheels on your 8.
Now if I can find an extra 2 grand. :D

Thanks for the feedback on the wheels. They're Zennetti 5's...20in. I'm not concerned with the "anti-chromers". I've had the car for only 2 months and it's been to 2 car shows. Both times it has come back with trophies. Independent judges at a MOPAR show and a Classic Car show obviously feel the wheels are a great match for the car. Judging was tough. I also own the 1950 Ford Police Car shown in the photos...it didn't win a trophy. When an RX8 beats out a classic car, at a classic car show, you know you've got something special.

Yeah, but the RX-8 and the Police Car weren't in the same class, so what's your point?

The car show registration was by class, but trophy presentation of the top 50 wasn't. There were other trophies based on class (best Ford, best Corvette, Open class, etc...) So two RX-8's placed in the top 50 while a classic 1950 Ford didn't. The week prior, the RX-8 placed in the top 10 at another car show (so did my '50 Ford police car). Sooo, my point? RX-8's can hold their own, even at a tough-judged classic car show. The original point was stemmed from whether people liked chrome wheels on an RX-8 or not. The judging at this show included scoring of the wheels/tires. Obviously my choice of wheels on the RX-8 passed the scrutiny of judging (at two separate shows, and one of them was a Mopar show). I like them, the judges like them, the public likes them. So, again, I'm not worried about the "anti-chromers". Thanks for asking
