Just picked up my RX8!

I am in love!:D I went up to Palmetto Mazda to see if they had any new 8's this morning. They had 2 silver 6 speeds. One had just arrived yesterday. I bought the sunlight silver with the touring package. It also has the rotary accent package on it(which is really kind of silly). The dealership will be installing the appearance package next week, but I went ahead and took the car home today because I don't want anybody driving it. The other silver one they had has over 125 miles on it!
So far I absolutely love this car. I'm not thrilled with the digital speedometer, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. It is so smooth that you really have to watch your speed. I'm trying to keep the revs down for the first 1k miles, so I haven't really gotten on it yet.

TracyP ...

I have too been keeping my revs down (at least < 5000) but have gone above that a few times to just give the engine a taste of what is to come in it's near future....

From what I read, it's important not to maintain a constant speed in the car for the first 600 miles ... so I've been letting the speed flux a tad here and there .... Only have a bit of 100 miles to go before the breakin point is done :-)...

I drove mine off the showroom with 4.5 miles last Thursday and here it is Tuesday with almost 500 miles .... geez :-) ... It's certainly a joy to drive and beauty to look at ..

By the way, you don't like the rotary accent package? I personally would like to get that option installed on my ti-grey rx8; however haven't gotten to the dealership to get it installed because I can't bear to part with my car just yet (isn't it a shame)...

But you'll have to let us know what you think of the appearance package once it's installed. I saw one in Rock Hill SC that had the appearance package and I didn't particular like the look it gave the car; however it was red and I'm a little bias against that color ... So maybe that influenced my opinion a bit...

Enjoy driving and stay safe!

Thanks! I am having so much fun with this car. It isn't that I don't like the rotary accent package, just that it doesn't do much for me either way. I wouldn't have paid extra for it if it hadn't already been on the car.
There may be a delay on my appearance package as the dealer went from assuring me I would have it in a few days to saying they might not be able to get it for "quite some time". I'm trying to wait patiently. I hope it looks nice. I've only seen it in pictures, but I thought it looked good. Hopefully I'll be pleased with it once it's on the car.

Good luck with it and I wish you the best of luck.

I bought my Yellow from Palmetto Mazda back in January. I might have seen one of you two down on Isle of Palms a few days ago.

TracyP no longer owns an RX-8. It's been quite a while since she owned one or even posted in this forum.
