Jaxport
Is their somebody in the Jacksonville area who wants to recon jaxport and see if they can find out when the ship will arrive. I would like to go but its a 5.5 hour drive for me. You would make a lot of east coast buyers really happy. For that matter a call or two might get the same info that had been found on the west coast.
Thanks in advance if somebody gives it a try.

I called JAXPORT and was told that unless I knew the name of the vessel, that they couldn't find out the estimated date of arrival. The website for JAXPORT does have an arriving vessel schedule, but it is only for one week in advance. Currently the website shows arrivals to June 13th. I assume it will be updated on Monday showing arrivals to June 20th. If you can find out the name of the vessel, I'd be more than happy to call again. If you'd like to call JAXPORT, the number is listed by hitting "contact us" at the bottom of the web page.

Our ship is now listed! At least it appears to meet the criteria.
Arriving Blount Island on June 30 is the Maersk Taiyo (NYK LINES) with "autos".
The Maersk Taiyo was built in 1996 and has a maximum capacity of 4310 autos. But we are only concerned with 407 of them.:D
According to information posted to the forum, this ship will continue on to New Jersey and dock July 2. I have not been able to confirm NJ schedule on the internet.

I rechecked the JAXPORT schedule and found another NYK Line ship...
Cosmos Ace - not listed as part of NYK RoRo fleet on their website -
bringing autos to Talleyrand. The Cosmos Ace is on the schedule as arriving June 28th. Maersk Taiyo is still listed arrving June 30.

My Father-in-law is the HR Manager for the comapny that installs the port options on all Mazda (and quite a few other makes) shipments into JaxPort. I asked him to watch for the RX-8. I didn't realize his company had the Mazda contract here or I would have been on him all along.
As an added bonus, he can apparently get quite a discount on these vehicles that pass through his company, so looks like I will be getting one sooner than later.
If I hear anything I'll post it.

See if you can get any information from your Father in-law.
Specifically, when the vehicles should be released to the trucks for final transport to the dealers.
If you can get any info on what the schedule is to be that would be great. Pictures would be even better.

I finally received a call back from the general sales manager for Tom Bush Mazda in Jacksonville on 7/2. His voice mail to me...."I know the excitement is in the air and your exited about getting the car. Just wait with us and let us see what is going on. The cars are at the port but they are making some changes to the cars. Even the factory distribution does not know when the cars will be released. So when we have some more information we will call you. We expect a release by the middle of the month." Anyone else getting more information about the "changes"?

Hey Planman, I ordered from Tom Bush as well. I'm getting Bush's only Red one. They haven't been helpful in any way really, and I had to bitch to Mazda about that road guard BS. When are we getting our cars dammit!

I got another message from the general manager. He first said my car was at port, but now he's saying my car is "on water" and should be ready for delivery by the week of the 21st. VIN was just under 1800. Frustrating, but I can wait. At least I know it's not baking in the sun at JAXPORT.

Have Ibufar run your Vin if you can. PM him to get the real scoop. He ran mine back around the 28th and was showing "in port". My saleman Rob didn't even know that, and seemed surprised I did. After I get my car, they'll never see me again unless a warranty issue comes up. This will surely be the last thing I ever buy from them. Their attitudes are SO annoying. Who's the guy standing around with the big bag of money? Oh a customer, what do you want?

This AM my status has changed to 46, "wholesaled". I think that means it's been released from port. Of course my salesguy didn't know this, and has told me for the 4th or 5th time, "he'll call when it's ready. It's mine, no one is gonna take it." But I can TOTALLY see them prepping her and letting her sit in the showroom as long as they possibly can (until the end of month necessitates the sale). Have I ever mentioned my Dealer sukks?
My dealer is about 10 minutes from JaxPort. So closer doesn't mean faster in this case.
Any Florida deliveries..Post here!
