If you guys are wanting to go for a drive we could meet up at Sonic, then go to Daytona. Some Mazda 3 people are meeting up at 2 on Sunday. That would be an hour drive for us and cut off an hour for the drive up from Miami.

The link to the Mazda 3 forums

Don't really know about stuff to do in Jax, havent found too much to do here myself. Any thoughts?

Hmmmm.....well I can do it but not sure if everyone else can I checked their forum and they only have six showing up we already have six ourselves and sure we will have more if we contact them about the meet. There should be plenty to do in J-ville it is the biggest city in the nation! Plenty of driving just need to do research so right now a meet at Sonics on Beach across the Flea Market at what time for everyone? I can do a search on places to drive from that point unless everyone can make the Daytona drive?

Autocross on Sunday

I'd be happy to join you all on a Saturday, 23rd. But, I will be at the SCCA Autocross on Sunday, the 24th.

Whitehouse Airfield, just a few miles West of Jacksonville off of Highway 10. Exit 351. Map can be found at: www.buccaneerregion.org

If you end up at Sonics on the 24th, remember me when you are downing cold liquids, while I am standing out in the weather chasing down cones!

Okay, I'm in!

Just got e-mail from SCCA, and they will NOT be able to use Whitehouse Airfield on the 24th. So, since I don't feel like driving to Gainesville to autocross, that leaves me available for either Saturday OR Sunday.

So, add me to the list!

So I guess the plan is meet at Sonic on Beach across the Flea Market around noon on Sunday then drive to Daytona to meet the Mazda 3 club? Will this work for everyone? I am up for whatever. I guess if people can't make the drive south then meet us at Sonic anyways then when we leave for Daytona you can follow us until you feel like turning around! So who can make the drive and who can only make the meet at Sonic?

I'd go, but I have races to go to that day....

Why don't we all meet and head up to the Tail of the Dragon next month. I'm taking a bunch of rotary beer mugs and shot glasses to give out....

Talking Sidebar for Nuke

Nuke,

Yep, fixed my taillight. Total cost = $0.00

For everyone:
The foam gasket that sits between the taillight assembly and the rear bodywork is in a bad place. Water coming off of the weatherstripped trunk seams drools right over that gasket. Mine had become old/flat/harder/brittle. Also, the plastic caves where the lightbulbs plug in to the taillight have nowhere for water to go, if it starts getting in there. So, if the gasket goes bad, water gets into lightbulb holes, and ends up in taillight.

Solution?
Removed taillight, carefully stripped off and retained bad gasket, emptied water and used blow dryer to get tailight dry and fog-free.
Then, contacted local company that sells neoprene and foam and cork for gasket making. Settled on a foam product that was the correct thickness, with an adhesive backing. Nice man at the gasket place gave me a 16" square of this material for free, enough for 3 or 4 gaskets, really.
I cut a replacement gasket from the free foam material, using the old gasket as a template (making sure that the adhesive would sit against the taillight contours, not the bodywork).
Re-installed, and Taa Daa!!!! Everything is clear as can be!

Pretty nice way to save a bunch of money.

thats awesome. i'm glad you didn't drill holes. i got a new mazda gasket. supposedly they are thicker and made from a different material than the original. i still haven't installed it yet though.

and Razpewton, hope to see you and some of you other Jacksonville people at BOTD.
