I think a 4'X6' banner is too tall. At the most it should be 3' so it can be tied to the top of a fence at a race track for example. Additionally, if all we have on the banner are the GARX8Club logo and Mazcare, the club logo should be LARGE. It would be great to include "Sponsored by" right above the Mazcare logo.

I agree with the addict. I would shoot more for a 3x5 to 3x6 size. Four feet tall starts pushing for a regular banner.

So are ya'll thinking basically a 3-line banner...to the tune of GEORGIA RX-8 CLUB at hte top, then underneath that say "www.garx8club.com". Then have a SPONSORED BY: with a couple decals/logos beneath it. What sort of colors do ya'll want? I would stick with single-color letters (fading requires printing AND cutting and adds cost, but can be done to great effect).

Ya'll toss out some ideas on colors, banner and lettering. Get me some responses before 4:00PM and I can have ya'll a rough estimate before I go to class at 5:30 today for some numbers ya'll can toss around tonight.

something along the lines of this, it is by no means final, but gives you an idea of what we have already dicussed. I need to make some calls this week, but am slammed today.

If I may... here is my suggestion. If you like it I will supply camera ready art. If you want me to make changes. I prefer this MAZCARE logo as the one from Mazcare's site is too busy. Just let me know and I will be glad to help.

thats fine, that was just a sample i made in about 5 minutes while eating lunch, with the graphics I had at hand. I like your idea better, my main goal is to get it done, not be the one who did it. Silver, can you PM me the info on the sign guy you work with again, the one with the really odd not so work safe website. I can't find that link anymore. I need to give him a call this week.

LOL... signguy.com, no need to PM, I'll give him a plug. Talk to Kevin.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to get my numbers cut for my car.

Silvers looks good to me but I would put the Logo side by side with the Sponsored by Mazcare section. It is a rectangular banner and that would fill it better.

I like silver's base layout, but to fit the geometry of a 3x6 (1:2 ratio, basically) I suggest moving the rotary cross-section out to even with all the text. Place it to the right of that block of text, sponsor logo, and web address. It's big enough to be it's own portion of the banner.

My graphics guy is telling me $110 for the banner. That would be my price, since he charges me the minimum amount for his pricing sheet. That will pretty much just cover his banner/vinyl expense. Let me know what bid's ya'll get and we'll go from there.

Forgive the crudeness of this example, but I don't have the software to edit it properly...lol

And as an aside, ya'll ought to come to Dave and Buster's on Sunday March 26th. I know we won't have any track time or dyno's, but it would be a good chance to get to know some fellow mazda enthusiasts. I'm always down for meeting some new faces from online.

I'll stick around after 5 and make it a 2:1 ratio.

the reason the logo looks like it does, is b/c it is our logo. I would not like to see it changed really. I also like the idea of the banner being 3'X5', so that it does not look to wide, but that is just my opinion.

I should hear back from the place that made the shirts tomorrow morning. I sent them Silver8's image and they'll give me a quote on a banner. I'll let everyone know in the morn.

Well, I can't seem to make anything else work out. So I made sure it was 3x5 format and moved the Mazcare and the URL around a little. I'm happy with this layout. If all agree then I will redo the Mazcare logo tomorrow in vector format so we can make it as large as we need without degredation. The rest is already vector.

Color? Are we going with a black background with white art except for the Mazcare Logo? You guys toy around with the idea and I'll make changes and have the art ready to send to the supplier of choice. We should be done with this puppy by tomorrow evening and ready to go to press by Wednesday if you guys get the numbers together.

Dark lettering on a light background is more visable/readable at distance. (i.e.
Blue or Black on Yellow or similar)

Understand. I was not aware that was a pre-designated logo. I think it looks great, especially if ya'll are going to shift the size of the banner to fit it. I like the black background with white and red lettering personally. I've seen both schemes (light on dark and dark on light) and I have no problem seeing one more than the other.

As I said, Graphic Designs will do it for ~$100. So if you want me to do it I can put the order in tomorrow. Glad to help out. Plus it will give me an excuse to meet up and get to know ya'll at some point...lol

I agree, I like the white background, to me it is easier to read, and I like the simplicity of it, and in my eye, it removes the debate about what color to make the "RX-8" text. We don't need anymore polls!

EDIT: according to sign guys website, it will be $90. I vot we go this route, it is a known supplier, and it is local. Just my opinion.

Sounds like a plan to me. Glad ya'll got the ball rolling on it.

Hey now, don't be hatin' on the avatar, it's not my fault ya'll haven't won a national championship in over 25 years

It's kind of fun NOT liking UGAy just because there are so many who love it in SUCH a DIE-HARD way. You can always find the types who every loss is someone else's fault and that they are God's gift to football. Especially here in Macon. It just get's old really fast.

OK, SignGuy, 3'x5', tucked/sewn edges, grommets 4 corners and Black/Blue on White vinyl. Am I missing anything?

L8, did the price of $90 include the sewing of the edges and grommets?

I will take the file by there since he is right down the road. I'm going by there anyway. I should have it done before I leave work today. Travis, are you going to talk to him or do you want me to take care of everything?

TA, can you give him a credit card over the phone and then absorb the funds from Barber?

yes, the price includes everything, exactly how we want it. I just got a reply from him, and if he had artwork today, it would be done by weeks end. So, silver, if you know where he is, and want to drop the artwork off too him, that would be fine. If need be, I can pay for it, and get money from TA from the Barber funds.

Silver, I will let Kevin at SignGuy know that the artwork will come from you.
