Requested Dates for January.....@ TGPR

I am having a cook-out / track day at TGPR, if anyone is interested. I only have ten slots right now, so if you want in, let me know now. Price will be 125 bucks, and that gets you a day of track time, and instruction from me, if you want.

valpac 11-29-2005 06:01 AM

What/where is TGPR?:dunno:

ok, count me in. Just about any weekend in January, I will work the schedule around this. It sounds like a lot of fun. And I know you can drive, and I am sure I have plenty to learn.

Stop&TurnFreak 11-29-2005 07:21 AM

Ok, that is one. I am waiting to find out what weekends are available, but I feel they are probably all open due to the off season.

L8APEX 11-29-2005 07:25 AM

Cool, keep us posted.

I bet TrackAddict would be just about do for a track hit in January.

valpac 11-29-2005 08:38 AM

thnx, L8APEX for the info. The track looks pretty cool.

STF I am interested. Please put me on the list as well. And yes, I need some ballast in my passenger seat so you are free to ride shotgun and point out my errors.

L8APEX 11-29-2005 08:51 AM

^no problem, see you there.

SilverEIGHT 11-29-2005 08:04 PM

Is this limited to experienced drivers? If you are OK with someone with two AutoX's and a strong desire to learn form a master, I'm in. The 3rd or 4th weekend is best for me but I will try to make it whenever.

Stop&TurnFreak 11-29-2005 11:48 PM

I haven't heard back from the owner, I have to call them tomorrow. Right now, I am shooting for 3rd week of Jan.

As for beginners, you are welcome, but know this, if you will have to ride with me first, and someone will be with you most of the day. Once, I know you are safe, i will allow lead follow with TrackAddict and others. Also, what I say goes, not because I am on a power trip, but because i am responsible for all there.

For my experienced folks, are there any concepts you want to practice/learn? There will be a few instructors, a semi-pro driver, and myself there, between all of us, you should have a deep pool of knowledge to pull from.

Somethings I am going to work on is close quarters with two of my instructors (parking lot close) at speed, passing techniques with another, and learning the 'feel' of a car (Nabil this is you). Your first lesson is learning how to tell when a car gets close to the limit. Also, plan on working with me ALOT on in car communication. Instructing is more about communication and less about driving. I want you to think about this, while you are prepping for the event.

For those of you serious, PM me, I want to take this offline, send me your email addy. Also, feel free to ask questions, or make suggestions.

Well, I would consider riding with you to probably be the most educational, valuable, and exciting part of the whole experience. I would be humbled, appreciative and abide by your important rules. Thanks!

Phlash 11-30-2005 07:23 AM

:boink: I'm in!!!!!

Spyder_doo 12-02-2005 07:54 AM

It's a great little track. Very fun to run up to 100 or so. I think I saw alittle over 100 once, but that was with cones in the way :D: When I did it no one was allowed to ride either :(

you did the autocross event there didn't you. i missed that one. I wish I had gone.

Stop&TurnFreak 12-02-2005 03:23 PM

I saw 135 running my buddies Evo there. I think mine, I was barely hitting 105.

Spyder_doo 12-02-2005 07:48 PM

yeah that was by far one of the best events I've ever been to. The car got extremely hot after a run though. I let it cool down with the hood popped...that vented hood helped alot too. Hope everyone has fun. Maybe I'll be able to this as long as it's after Christmas.

Stop- were you there that event? I remember there was a couple of evos running that day. One of them was red with some little 'diffuser' or something on the back glass.

Stop&TurnFreak 12-03-2005 10:53 AM

not to sound 'snooty' but the days I was there, I rented the track.....:).

L8APEX 12-03-2005 10:57 AM

so, STF, any news. Or will it be sent out via PM to those that have expressed interest?

and it is not snooty, just prooving that you may be addicted! :D:

Stop&TurnFreak 12-03-2005 11:28 AM

The track is available on the 21st. I have to make sure I can get tires :) before driving down. If not, I may be a RX8 whore all day. :) :).

dave

L8APEX 12-03-2005 03:46 PM

January 21st. sounds good to me.

Spyder_doo 12-04-2005 05:39 PM

*crosses fingers* I might be able to make it down there in my n/a form :D

awesome, I hope we get enough cars together to make this happen.

L8APEX 12-05-2005 06:14 PM

i know AC8 sent STF a PM, i sent AC8 a PM the other day, about the thread that STf had started.

enough with the letters. I cant wait, I need a track fix.

Marietta 8 12-05-2005 07:29 PM

I pm'd. Ya'll pray hard for dry weather on Sat. for Road Atl. My tires are great for dry at this point but otherwise Lee Ann is only gonna get touring laps at best. Me and the bank have this little agreement ya know what i mean?

SilverEIGHT 12-05-2005 07:50 PM

I should be around to get a few shots of you on the track Charlie.

Here's my no rain dance for ya!

Stop&TurnFreak 12-05-2005 08:55 PM

Ok, here is the good/bad news. The good news is I have the track. The bad news is the insurance and instruction rules are changing, and if I go over 10 people, the price goes up by 2, not counting ambulance. Therefore the value factor goes WAY down, since you can do two days at that price, unless we can round up 20 more folks, at which point, again, value goes down.

Like I said before, I want this to be intimate, to make sure you ALL leave with knowing a touch more. If you are definite, please send me or TrackAddict your money, and I will get it to the owner at TGPR. The sooner we do this, the better. I will also do intros for your club to the owner, to make sure you guys have this opportunity down the road, for club meets, etc.

For those of you who want to see some vids....go to www.32vcobra.com and click the TGPR link.

So, as it stands now, I have these 10.

1. Silver8
2. L8pex
3. Phlash
4. Valpac
5. AC8
6. MisterWilson
7. 32VCobra
8. KingVic
9. Super TT chic....Kingvic's wife
10. TrackAddict

If you notice, my name is not there. I am going down to help out, and be the general know-it-all. :). No, really, I thoroughly enjoy these events, and I want them to fun for all. So, if you are still interested, let TrackAddict know. I figured you guys would feel more comfortable working through one of your own, rather than me, since not all of you know me. I will be emailing my address, and TA's, so we can gather the funds to send to TGPR.

Thanks .... and see you all there.

SilverEIGHT 12-05-2005 09:43 PM

STF... that EVO sounds really nice. Thanks for the link. I like being able to see the entire track from the flag stand. Set the video camera on a tripod and shoot the entire course... nice!

I think my brother is going to come and shoot for us. I'm working on him.

Stop&TurnFreak 12-05-2005 10:12 PM

Cool, sounds great. i will have the car down there, you guys are welcome to go for a spin, just be gentle with my baby !!!!.

Phlash, I want another ride in your car, maybe I can pilot a lap or two.

SilverEIGHT 12-06-2005 08:45 AM

Do I send $125 now or do I wait till we have a final price?

olddragger 12-06-2005 10:39 AM

sorry i will miss this one. It sure sounds fun and i know will learn a lot. It does look like a eat them up tire track. Lots of run off though. Hope the weather holds. Charlie I too pray for no rain this saturday. I will see ya'll after lunch time then.

I'll let ya drift mine if I can drift yours......:Eyecrazy:

L8APEX 12-06-2005 12:15 PM

I just watched one of the videos on that site. Now I am all excited about going even more than I was before. It looks like a nice, short track, with places to work on a lot of things. This is going to be a lot of fun. I plan to have the car done by then. It will be fun! :D:

Well damn, I thought I had pm'd to count me in. I guess i don't count no mo. The really good news is that the Saturday forecast has a big yellow SUN on it. Looks like it's gonna be cold too but that's what seat heaters are for!

S&T F: please let me know if you will have a slot for me.

chas

Stop&TurnFreak 12-06-2005 07:17 PM

Will do. I may try to get the track on Friday too. I have more folks who want to come, and we can't squeeze them all in on Saturday.

legokcen 12-06-2005 09:29 PM

I know you have 10 right now, but if any slot opens up, I'd love to have a spot. I can make it a weekend thing if you can get Friday too. Let me know please.

Stop&TurnFreak 12-06-2005 09:47 PM

Are there any of you who could do Friday, instead of Saturday? You could hang out either one, but you would be 'driving' only one.

Let me know, I may can juggle this for everyone.

legokcen 12-06-2005 10:20 PM

I can do either day. Just let me know. I'll be happy to take vacation.

Stop&TurnFreak 12-06-2005 11:09 PM

I just talked to Steve, Marrieta (sp) you are in, he is going to come down too, to help.

dave

L8APEX 12-07-2005 07:01 AM

From the looks of it, there is not a lot of shifting gears once you get going. Do you suppose we will spend most of the time in 3rd in our cars. I only ask, b/c one of the things I need to work on is downshifting, that was one of two things that kept me from moving up to HPDE 2 at RA this year.

STF, check your PM's, I need to know where to send the $$.

L8APEX 12-07-2005 07:18 AM

The more I think abou this event, the more I can't wait. And I thought I was not going to get back on a track until March.

L8APEX 12-07-2005 07:25 AM

yeah, we will have to leave a little room behind me, dont want to get run over, being the slowest one out there. But that is the one part that I really need to wrok on...footwork, downshifting.

Phlash 12-07-2005 07:38 AM

So, except for the Friday drivers is anyone going down Friday night to stay? Or, is everyone just driving in Saturday am.

BTW....what time does this all start???

L8APEX 12-07-2005 07:46 AM

good questions. it is not that from from Atlanta to TGPR, only about 100 miles. YOu could drive down to ATL on Friday, and then we could caravan over early Saturday morning, or we could all head over on Friday, and get a few rooms at one of the places listed under accomodations on the TGPR website. checkered things not included!

Phlash 12-07-2005 08:23 AM

Well, it's 140 from here.......so unless someone can come up with a good reason for me to add the extra 130 miles to Atlanta, I may pick you all up at I20 at a agreed time.

SilverEIGHT 12-07-2005 01:24 PM

I'm OK either way. I don't mind driving over Friday evening or Saturday morning... my face will have a stupid looking grin on it no matter what.

me too, considering how much is going onto the car next week. Coilover's, brake lines, and new pads. It will be a whole different car now. I can't wait.

L8APEX 12-07-2005 01:41 PM

ha, yeah I am, but I have been saving up for this stuff for a while too. I almost forgot about new sticky tires too. :ylsuper:

I plan to do the same, maybe we can arrange a meeting point or two, so that we caravan again. Cause it is cool to see a line of us on the highway.
