I had not thought of that, but yes, that will be pretty cool.

White05, are you going to make it out with your video camera?

Does anyone know if we need to have numbers on the car for this event if we are going to run the novice class. I created my login today, and am going to register, just trying to make sure I have everything I will need.

they provide numbers for you when you pay at the counter there

L8APEX 05-02-2005 08:04 AM

I saw on the reigstration that they provide numbers, but they have to be taped to the car. I was wondering if we could provide out own, to avoid the tape issue. Does the number you get change every race? Is the number out to the left of our name in the entry list the number that we will be assigned at the track. Sorry for the questions, first autocross event for me.

Well, I am signed up, 3rd 8 in the novice afternoon class. :D

uacolon 05-02-2005 08:18 AM

No I don’t believe it is. I signed up 12th person last year and my number was 15.
As for the tape I used some white vinyl that I got at a sign store which left no glue
Residue on the my black 8 it holds on really good

Still waiting on location, hopefully get that today. Sure, bring your friend. I don't think anyone will mind having a "non-8" or two out there... Maybe we will make a convert out of them anyway.

Air Pump

Is anyone planning on bringing an air pump to the Autocross event?

Just ordered a helmet, M2000 rated, so that should give it some time to be used.

I was reading over the rules for the Stock B category, once we have to move out of novice, and it looks like having the intake keeps us out of that group. Splan, what group would we classify under after that, it looks like the Super Street is more modified. Any ideas?

Splan8 05-02-2005 09:44 PM

There is usually an air pump there...

As for classes beyond stock:
STU class is next. Up against some steep competition car wise, but drivers in the class are usually just out of novice category because there is not a national trophy available for the class yet... You would also be wise to examine the street prepared classes too and consider running there...

What I mean is this:
I wanted to campaign a miata this year, working towards a first or second place finish. I looked at the stock class results from every 2004 event. As I was looking, I saw that CSP (intakes, exhaust, suspensions allowed) were always slower than stock classes. Every time by 2 or more seconds.

When I asked those in the know about this, they said that it is MUCH cheaper to campaign a stock car at a national level than a CSP car. Results are what they are, so I am prepping a CSP miata for regional only competition. Besides, I like modifying the car beyond stock.

Oh, and at nationals, there are always CSPs that are much faster than stock. We just didn't have many here last year...

I would like to add my name to the list for the dyno day but I need to check my calendar and see if a friend is getting married that day. Depending on the time of the wedding will depend on if I can make it or not. How long does an event like this usually last with say 10 or so people?

I am not sure how long it will take, but we can all be flexible and I am sure you could jet out after you do your pulls...

^^I agree, we need someone there with a video camera for the dyno day, and then one at the track to film the cars from outside the car. Makes me want a video camera.

Bought a helmet instead, that means I am hooked. :D

Sure does, I am looking at the August NASA event. I don't think a thread is started, but I am planning to do that one. I wanted to do the last NASA at RA, but I was out of town that whole weekend.
