Hey all you Rx-8 guys and gals,

There is an autocross at the Gainsville raceway this sunday. This is the place to drive your nice sports cars to there limit. Right now I know of 2 rx-8s going, me and Whiterex. We need more compitition. This is a great place to legally race your rx-8 and so what it can do. Everyone is encouraged to come, I am leaving from orlando around 5:30-6:00am. Anyone that wants to go is welcome to caravan with me. Hope some more of ya'll can go.

I was at this autocross driving a silver 350z, #73 in B Stock. Which RX8's were you guys driving? I remember 2 white ones. The course was pretty cool - very slow and twisty on the first half, and fairly quick and brake intensive on the second half.

I was in the white rx-8 with the stock front lip spoiler and side skirts. Me and my brother were driving it. I was # 116 and he was 323. The other rx-8 was a guy named chuck. He had the rear spoiler without the other 2.

Nice to see another BS racer from central florida on the forum. How did you do at the event?

Fifth out of seven... So not too well I'm afraid However, the race from third place to fifth was pretty tight - 2 and a half tenths. You and that blue 350z created a nice margin between the rest of us.

I know you live practically on the other coast, but I think Brooksville is even closer to you than Gainesville. Try to make it out to a CFR SCCA Brooksville event if you can. If you're interested, I'll give you details (you have to sign up for Brooksville in advance).

Usually, it's just myself and # 440 above that compete in B Stock in Brooksville. Occassionally, another B Stocker makes it, but it sure would be cool to have all this competition there.

By the way, what tires do you use?

I have been to Brooksville once before.....I thought it was cool. It was when they first started racing there and there was alot of grass growing through the concrete, I remember turning in my miata and hitting one of those patches of grass and then almost losing it. I liked all the room though. I'm sure I will go out there one of these days, There is an event out there this weekend that I was going to go to, but it is already full ( BMW event).

I was on the stock tires. Brigstone Potensa re040.

I like the tires, but I can't wait to get the race tires mounted. What about you...Tires?

Oh yeah....My brother has an S2000....that was his first time in the rx-8, he likes it but definitly wasn't used to it yet.

I've seen the grass get a little out of control there before as well. Recently, the airport killed all of it again, so it's good for the time being. I'm so used to that concrete surface that when I autocross on blacktop, it feels like ICE!

I'm going to the BMW event this weekend. It filled quickly, but the next BMW event is available at myautoevents.com right now.

Gainesville was my last event on my old Kumho Ecsta MX's. They were worn down to the wear bars - in 9 months no less. The reason I asked you about your tires was because I was hoping you were using your OEM tires - which you were. It's good to see that the RE040's have potential, judging by your performance with them. I bought a used set of tires and wheels last weekend with the RE040's. I will use them until they wear out, and honestly, I wasn't expecting much.

Your brother stepped UP from a Honda to your RX8, huh? Good for him. Maybe he'll trade in his POS-2000. Heheh. Just kiddin'. They're superior cars. I just don't like Honda, and don't have much reason for it.

I'll be on the lookout for white RX8's as I autocross this year. See you around.
