Barber Motorsports Park - B'ham, AL - July 29-31
Awesome trip! Thanks everyone for bring all the food. I espicially enjoyed the Chicken Wings! The Barber track is a beautiful facility. I would like to go back to the museum sometime. Enjoyed meeting new people and getting together with all of you. The drive over was a blast and the ride home was fun as well. Picked Charlie, later Nabil and later in GA olddragger/Phlash. What a great day. OK what's next!
I have 443 images to sift through but it looks like this is going to be pretty easy as the exposures or generally good. I will post a few teasers here and then put the package up on my web site.
Guess what's on SpeedVision right now... American LeMans... What a great way to cap this day off.

Just got back from Mytle Beach, wish I could have made it out there, but I am glad you guys had such a good time!
I agre that Barber is a great track. I wish it were more cost effective to run a track day there...

Well, we just got home too. Long drive. I had an amazing day! Wow, I was so excited this morning and the day totally surpassed my expectations. Thanks to everyone I met. This is a heck of a group. I enjoyed meeting all of you guys. My buddies had a wonderful time too. I loved the people, the racing, the guys in the paddock area were great, and the food was fantastic.
Can't wait to do it again. I have a lot of photos as well and will start posting them soon. A big round of applause to Speedsource. They did great and were a great host. What a great crew!
Thanks again everyone. Hope to see you all again really soon.

Had a great weekend. Barber is beautiful and looks really tough. Would LOVE to track my car there and who knows maybe...
I enjoyed meeting everyone that attended. The food was plentiful (I left many fried chicken parts in the hotel) and good. Especially enjoyed the cold melon which hit the spot. The impromptu ram duct install was interesting. Even though cars were racing around the track, all the club members gathered around in the pits to watch Charlie and Denny work. It never fails. Open a hood and watch the gear heads swarm. A hearty handshake to all the effort by our club members. It really fell together nicely with no troubles.
The Daytona Prototypes are awesome machines (how do I get one?) and Sundays race was excellent. Many yellow flags though. I am glad I "Tivoed" the race so I can see where all the problems happened. Tried to watch it last night when I got home, but ZZZZZ..... The Super Karts were cool, too. I enjoyed them more than the Formula BMW cars. They haul *** and corner like they were glued to the track. Very fun to watch.
Ok, whats next? Looking forward to our next Club outting. Ciao.

Just a quick note to tell you guys how much I appreciated you showing a Subaru guy some hospitality.
Hopefully, I'll be able to return the favor sometime soon.
Loved your cars and being able to hang with you at the track.
I'll post the link to some video and pics I took of the SpeedSource guys soon.
thanks again for making me feel as though I was one of your own.

First time I had a chance to post since I got back from the race. First of all, nice to finally meet everyone! The ride out and back was a blast except for the one time I almost got in a nasty accident on the way back. If it wasn't for the handling of the 8 I would probably be in traction right now (damn SUV's). For some reason I look forward to road trips with you guys. I guess I just love looking at the 8 so much that when we drive in a group and I constanly have one in my line of sight then the drive doesn't bother me as much. I thought hanging out at the race was pretty cool even though I am not that much of a race fan, unless it is motorcycles. Also I would like to thank Val for showing me how to reset my ecu to bone stock. I must have gained back 15-25hp from doing it, plus I only used a little over a "quarter" of a tank on the way back. My gas needle was one tick above half when I reset the ecu and when I pulled into the garage it was one tick below 1/4 tank mark. And now my auto now "feels" like it has the power to keep up with all you manuals on the road (not track)!! Well I wish I had time to say more but I got to get back to work!!

I saw that nut job on the motorcycle too. I was thinking dumbass as he was passing me but then he proved it when I lost sight of him as he passed the semi popped out in front of the cars in front of you. I could only think he passed them in on the shoulder. All while wearing only a helmet and t-shirt, no protecting leather jacket or anything.
When we were on the exit ramp to the interstate, how hard did you gun it during acceleration?

An open letter to the GA RX-8 Members --
Sorry we had to bug out early, but it was quite a busy weekend. Just glad to meet up with what I consider old friends, and meet some new friends I trust we'll see again.
The time Speedsource gave us just before the race was a pleasant surprise. They solidified my confidence in our Rx-8's. The hats were cool too.
Even though I live in Bama, somehow I was still accepted into this group, and am now the proud owner of the official GA RX-8 Golf Shirt & Hat. Good job on the quality.
But of most importance was the comraderie y'all displayed. You impressed the hell out of my wife. She now understands why I hang around this place, but especially was pleased to meet such great folks. Watching racing is no where near her top 10 list, but you all made it memorable, and for that I thank you very much.
Looking forward to hangin out with you soon.

Petit Lemans at RoadAtlanta, lets go, should I start a thread. It is about 2 months away now.
