Anyone in Florida get the "L" reflash?
I talked to my dealer (Marlin Mazda, in Miami) who seemed to know nothing about it. I'm wondering if it will be a hassle for me to get it done. If anybody has, let me know what you told them...basically just how you had it done.
I'm takin my car in for service in a few days, and would like to get all recalls and stuff done in one visit.
Thanks.

They are posted in the tech area. Basically the passenger side airbag needs to be fixed a the heat sheild for the tranny needs to be replaced. The VIN ranges are posted on the tech area as well.
Also if you go to mazdausa.com and register your car, you'll get the recall notices there if they apply.

Dont worry about the recalls cause if your VIN is in the range you will get a letter in the mail from Mazda USA Corporate, I did, I got them in the mail on Wednesday.

Well, the car was running on L flash for all of 80 miles or so. It felt a little stronger in the lower RPM range. However my upgraded stage1 arrived and well, in it went. Car feels really strong now.

I got the L flash on mine when i took it in for the oil light coming on while on the Highway. I suspect I already had it though. I took delivery on Feb22 and the dealer had already applied both recall fixes. I figure if they were that ahead of the game on the recall, they were ahead of the game on the reflash also.

It probably helped that I had been calling that dealer for 2 weeks asking about the recalls and the flash, and I got there right there before you that day.

I went to Accardi (where I bought the car). Just tell them you have mistery CEL's and lower mileage and you'll get flashed.
Of course, it IS an hours drive :D

I spoke to Tony at Mazda of Kendall, he said he didn't have the new program yet (I guess he doesn't know they can download it) but he did say that he would do it when he gets it.

Well, for your info, using flash L with an updated stage 1, doing 1/4 mile runs, launching at 3500RPM and trying to see overall change, rather than get the best times, stock I averaged 15.25, and with stage 1 turned on, I hit 14.78. Same road, car was warmed up, same shifting. Did 5 runs on and 5 off.
Veeeeery Interesting!
Tomorrow I do HP runs.
Now if only I could find my damn g-tech data cable and power adapter. I think I left them at work, so I'll look tomorrow and update as I can.

I had mine in for the 2 recalls and 15K service yesterday. I asked about a PCM update, and he asked, "you mean flashing?" Ha ha. When they looked up my "serial number", he said, there were no updates listed. I didn't pudh the issue, because I'm of the opinion if it ain't broke don't fix it. I have not had a SINGLE CEL, oil light, flooding incident, or hard starting incident. I'm not really in a mad rush to get the update.
Edit: BTW, they DID give me a rental car (nasty Camry) free of charge. It was nice listening to the rep pitch their $179 15k-service to me, then flashing my free maintenance card to say, "Oh you twisted my arm." I did get an alignment done, too. Haven't been able to fully play with the new settings yet.

When i brought it up to my service manager, he gave me a confused look and claimed he didn't know anything about a reflash. But then i started talking about members of this forum who have already received the flash, and took out a printed paper that discussed the recalls and the "L"
Right away he turned to his computer and added the L reflash to the service list..and said, "I know what you're talking about..."
your dealership knows about it...just keep at it, and if they play dumb, tell them about the forum, and that you even have the P/N for the L reflash (N3H6 18 881L)...they shouldn't give you too much trouble after that..

kush: I didnt bring up the new firmware actually. I mentioned to William (the service guy) that I was getting lower mileage, and that I got 3 mystery CEL's that came on and went out by themselves. I added that I checked gas cap and oil caps to make sure that wasnt it and pointed out the car didnt stumble or anything, it just flashed a CEL, and they aplied the L flash (and explained that it was for fixing phantom CEL's like that and it might improve the mileage a bit).

So far seems to be so good. I might do some quick HP runs tonight if I can swing them to directly compare it on and off. I "should" have some g-tech data from the first stage1 someplace so I cna post a 3 way comparo.

Is there a safe way to trigger a CEL? I'm afraid if I call and tell them I want L flash and nothing else they'll try to thwart me over the phone, and if I just show up they'll tell me I need an appointment. I heard leaving the gas cap off will do it.
