not sure its my car then.....my owners manual and wheel lock were in the glove box along with a detailed list of maintenance done as well - unless the dealership removed it....
plus I read that you posted that your gas mileage was 23mpg -- I NEVER got over 18-19 EVER..
to make sure - whats the last four digits in the VIN?

Last 4 digits is 2277.
and the owners manual isn't a big deal, but the wheel lock key is. but they told me i can bring it in and they will replace the locks and give me a new key...so, hopefully that won't be that huge of a deal either.
but there definately wasn't an detailed maintiance list in the car. seems that they just took everything that was in the car and threw it away. so if the key was in with all that, it probably got thrown away too.
and hopefully i'll be able to keep the gas mileage up.

what options do you have on the car? I think that's the right digits but just to make sure..
MT or AT?
sports pkg, touring or GT?
how many miles when you bought it?

Interesting...one owner said they never got over 19mpg and new owner got 23...if it is the same car, then this is just evidence that DRIVER is the most important factor in fuel economy...well...along with driving conditions.

long stupid story.....but my husband got a new job working in Roswell (1.5 hr commute one way) and he wanted to trade my car for an AT to help his commute and I would take his vehicle....we (stupid stupid) traded the car I absolutely LOVED and BABIED for an 05 AT....after the first day he came home and said "I HATE IT! and you can have it! (throwing the keys at me)...
we took back and tried to persuade them to give me my car back but they would not....we took another 04 MT (GT this time with 2K less miles) instead.
hard hard lesson and I miss having the car I bought NEW and knowing its life-story.
The MPG is funny because I dont drive like a "grandma" I also dont drive it as aggressively as most (guys) do -- I let my husband do the redlining in it

wow...loganville to roswell commute everyday. i don't know if i could handle that with atlanta traffic. it took me 40 minutes to go ~6 miles today.
GT pkg would have been nice, but i got one that had everythign that i wanted (black mt sport pk), so i'm happy. its also comforting to learn that the previous owners properly cared for and maintained the car.
what color did you get for your new 8?

since we didn't want to have the increased pymts for an 05 we decided on another 04 on the used lot that was "almost" as impeccable as mine was (cosmetically speaking)--unfortunately it is also black, but that made it easier for me to just not say anything to anybody at work about what stupid mistake we made, so everyone thinks its the same car....just added a spoiler and appearance pkg.....
after caring for the black for a year (weekly and sometimes more) I would have preferred the titanium, but oh well....

Hey, more Stone Mountain Mazda people! I got my 8 there. Great people; great service department. I live on the opposite side of Atlanta and live less than a mile from the nearest dealer here, but I chose them because they cut us the best deal and were the most cordial to us.

this is my 2nd black car, the first i had for almost 5 years, so i know the effort it takes to keep it clean, but just after washing it, it looks so good. so, to me, its well worth the effort.
and i do have to commend you on caring for the car...the car is show room clean.

thanks -- I am a fanatic and constantly getting on to anyone who touched it (or my new one too)
no - rx8wannahave -- I understood and was just trying to help him out with his commute that I was willing (kindof) to give up my car....so glad it worked out OK and we still have a MT though....the AT sucked IMO! no more fun than any AT with a V6....
Glyphon - I am emailing you directly an approximate maintenance list FYI....
glad to meet you -- hope you have lots of fun and enjoyment out of the 8 - congrats and welcome!

she's at georgia state, and hating it. apparently the law school itself is pretty good, but anything outside of the law school is just terrible, like financial aid, administration, that sort of thing. its so bad she feels that the undergrad program and school name is dragging the law school down.
btw, i'm a uga alum too. majors in psychology and video production and a minor in japanese. what can i say. i like to mix things up

Video production? Out of the Grady school? When did you graduate? My undergrad degree is in Broadcast News and I got my ABJ in '00.
BTW, I know where your friend is coming from with the frustration about GSU. My brother went to school there, and he said their financial aid department is so, so screwed up. He didn't get his HOPE check one semester because they forgot to mail off his information. Go figure.
What year is your friend? If she needs any outlines for any classes, I can get them to her.

yup...telecom arts out of grady. most people not from the jschool just kinda blink when you say telecom arts, so i just tell most people video production.
I graduated this past august, but i got my first undergrad degree there in 99. so its possible that i know you.
as for the gf, shes finishing up her 3rd year this semester, and she said that really the only thing that she might need is employee benefits.
