Any Charlotte owners here?

I've had my RX-8 for about a month now and they still seem pretty scarce around here.

What color is yours?? I saw a red one on Colony one morning and a titanium on Randolph Road one morning. I have a black one on order from Donald Craig in Mooresville. Where did you buy yours?? I thought all the Charlotte dealerships were really horrible!! They wouldn't budge on the mark-ups and treated me like they were doing me a favor by selling me the car. I chose
Donald Craig because they let me test drive it. I'm beginning to wonder if I made the right decision.....I placed my order in July and the car hasn't even been built yet!!!

I have a silver one. I'm in south Charlotte as well. I bought mine off the lot in early Spetember from one of the Charlotte dealers. They were way more willing to deal since they had 10 or so cars on the lot and some of them had been there since my first visit in July.
Hope you get yours soon, it's been a great car for the past month.

Just bought Sunlight Silver GT 10/18/03 from Bob King in Winston Salem. I traded in a Miata 10AE. They will discount and deal if you go in prepared and have shopped other dealer. I live in Iron Station, NC and avoid driving in Charlotte at all costs. I shopped at other dealers surrounding Charlotte. Best deal was Bob King.

Talking

I'm up in Kernersville, NC, but travel to Charlotte often in my Titanium RX on business. Looking for clubs. Anything going on down in CLT?

I live in Plaza/Midwood and just got my 8 last week. Nordic green. Love it. Have only seen a couple of 8's on the road in CLT and I know a few of the ones I saw were people out on test drives!!! Definitely not many riding the streets of CLT.....

Hello everyone i'm in the Charlotte, area I am looking into getting my debit settled and then looking at a new 8. I just wanted to know where you guys got your what dealers around, I know of the on on 74 and South Blvd. Also anyone gotten any mods at any local shops? I have been looking around but the only two web sites I know of for local shops are GMP, and Speed Styles. Thanks. -Curtis

Hey

I just baught my 8 at Harrelson Mazda on South Blvd in Charlotte they had a huge selection every color and were great to deal with. Mine is Blue and I love it. So far the only mod I've done was to instal a XM Delfi Skyfi receiver. Might order a speedchip not sure yet I am very happy with the performance and drive. Get lots of looks.:D This ice storm sucks it's been in the garage and won't go out until the thaw.

I bought mine at Montgomery Mazda on 74. They were good to deal with and they had the car I wanted although i dont know their selection is as large as Harrelson's. Only mod's I've got so are are the XM SkiFi receiver and grounding kit. Looking to get Canzoomers Stage 1 mod in the next month or so.....

I also bought my winning blue on 74 from Montgomery. The folks at Harrelson's insulted me on my trade price, insulted me on my test drive ("If you let me run your credit, I can get you on 485!"), then finally wouldn't talk price until I had my trade settled.

Montgomery gave me full trade price, then invoice for my car. Of course it was 12/29, which is a great day to buy a car.

Only mod I've gotten is my XM commander.

1600 miles on this car, which is a great daily commuter from Weddington to uptown!

I got mine from Harrelson and they were nice until it came down to price. I felt pressured and duped in the end. I still bought the car, and I love it, but they wouldn't be clear about the numbers and were vague and condensending. Basically I paid MSRP, but they stuck me on my trade in. I'll go somewhere else next time.

My permanent home is in Charlotte, but I'm a student in Chapel Hill. I live in south Charlotte, so you may have seen me around. Mine is silver, I've seen a red one at the blockbuster in the Arboretum. I hated Harrelson Mazda so I bought mine from Montgomery, Harrelson disrespected me and my mother, so after I got mine from Montgomery I drove it to Harrelson to "look" at their 8s in the case that I wanted two.

Count me in! I finally got my black 8 on Dec 11th. Well worth the wait!!
Are any of you silver owners my neighbor - two doors down in
Matthews? Damn, I wanted to be the first kid on the block with one!!

Also, are any of you silver owners parked in the BOA Corp parking
deck. How freakin' early do you have to get in to get that sweet spot every day??

BTW - Harrelson was HORRIBLE to me too. That's why I ordered from Donald Craig and waited for it to be built.

Well I hate to say this but my RX8 engine went sour at 14000 miles the radiator light came on. I checked the antifreeze and it was down a half gallon. No leaks. I then checked the oil and it was over full white and milky. Up until the 14000 I had no problems then all hell broke loose. I traded it for the new 2005 Mustang GT. I miss the handling and looks. But I love the power and the retro looks of the new Mustang. It reminds me of when I was 17 with my 69 fastback. Sorry, Enjoy your 8 it is a GREAT car!!!!

Exclamation All Charlotte and surrounding 8 owners!

Wow, what a gap in posts. March '04 to March '05. btw, this is my 1 year anniversary this month owning an 8 - only 9,000 miles on it. Velocity Red GT. I've been deployed with the military for a couple of 60 day deployments to the "Sandbox" which is why I have such low miles on my primary car. I am currently out-of-town and plan to be back in early April. We should pick a spot to meet - say a park or something in Charlotte in April - should be nice weather then - pick a date and an alternate in case of rain. It doesn't have to be all day - just a couple of hours to talk and show our cars and any mods. RX-8 mechanics always welcome! :p (I'm sure we all would like trusted, familure mechanics working on our cars!)

I grew up in Charlotte and visit family every once in a while. I'll be back the weekend of the 15th. Any autocross or other track events go on there? I've seen very few 8's the last time I was there in January.

Let me know if anything is happening the weekend of the 15th. We've got a group here that has gone to several track schools at Road Atlanta. About 8-10 of us have come together from GA, TN, AL, and event one from Detroit to get together and attend these events. We've posted in the SE Forum. Let me know if something like this can happen at Lowe's Motor Speedway. I'll be happy to make a trip up to Charlotte for that.
