Ala. Region SCCA HPX Track Day 4/15/06 at Barber Motorsports Park
Ala. Region SCCA HPX Track Day 4/15/06 at Barber Motorsports Park
The Alabama Region SCCA is putting on a High Performance Driving Experience (HPX) on saturday, April 15th, 2006 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. http://www.barbermotorsports.com/map.html
You do not have to be a SCCA member. Novices are welcome. There will be three run groups with advanced and instructors pretty much having open passing. The cost will be $250 with late registration of $275 (two weeks before the event. we want early birds).
Barbers is a technical track with good elevation changes and turns that link with each other. The track surface is also easy on the tires. We will be charging instructors a very small fee of $50 (track rental is premium there) which is a great deal for the venue. As to qualified instructors you can email me at re@alscca.org
We hope to have our sanction number and supps/rules up by Feb. 10th. Go to www.alscca.org for more details at that time.

We are still working out the schedule and sanction for the event but it looks like each run group should get four 25 minute sessions which is about 130 miles of track time. You should be all used up by the end of the day at that place. It is a very "busy" track from a technical standpoint. Yes it is a track day with instructor.

Holy Crap Batman! I've run this track numerous times on my motorcycle. Those track days are $200...this is a steal for Barber track time. I LOVE THIS TRACK! I might seriously have to drive my car down from Boston (temporarily living up here)for this one

Lego, phlash, take your bank account with you, small orr road adventures at barber are costly...
I don't think I will make this one. With RoadAtlanta in March, and Roebling in May, I better let the month of April be track free, let the car and the bank account have a rest for a bit. It would be fun, Barber looks like a very complicated track.

I need to go!
I need to go so I can ride with someone, and make an embarrassing comment which then will be viewed in no less than 12 countries! Too funny! Seriously, this would be awewome to drive Barbers!!!!

Ok - once again I am sorry. I should have done a better job editing out the sound byte. However, that "oh snap" comment was priceless. You are a terrific sport and we hope to see you at our gatherings. B'ham isn't that far away from Atlanta. We have many things planned for this year.
You'll definitely see us again. We had a blast! I really wanted to do this Barbers day, but dont think we'll be able to drive in it. We'll just have gone on a gambling trip right before, so dont think the money will be there.
That is, unless I hit big!

I will be at the NASA RA event next weekend. Might bump into some of you folks. I have what looks like a piece of crap yellow CRX track car. My money goes to the "stuff" that makes it fast, brake, or turn.
